Ralph and his big bro.......
hmm interesting:
http://www.itv-f1.com/news/news_story/19823 So he's finally admitted he used to give way for his brother: "Enough with the jokes - I am not going to brake for Michael any more." "I am not going to take my foot off the pedal for my brother. I will give it my all just like Michael taught me to do." If I was williams or bmw I would be seriously ****** off with him...... someone give him a shovel. Last edited by Adam43; 19 Feb 2004 at 15:22. |

Well ITV say it "suggests" that Ralf was nice to Michael before. And that is too strong a suggestion IMHO. "Enough of the jokes" infers that it wasn't true. So where dies that leave us - read whatever into it you like, but it doesn't make it any more certain than before.
The only thing it actually means is that he won't be doing that in the future. |

"I am not going to brake for Michael anymore" is a somewhat unfortunate choice of words. I'm sure that's not actually what he meant!

Maybe he meant "I won't let Michael use me as a brake anymore...." or is that just silly?
I'm pretty sure he has let Michael through easily before, but only when he's being lapped. His problem is overtaking him really. |

I can't see Williams being pleased with those comments regardless how they were made.

This does go some way to proving one of the running suspicions in the F1 paddock - Ralf not racing as hard against his brother as everyone else is understandable, he must realise that he'd've struggled to even reach F1 were it not for his last name, not to mention the skills and tips Michael passed on, but it's not acceptable for a top competitor to not be giving his best against his main rival.
2004 seems to be Ralf's last chance, considering his ridiculous salary demands from Williams. Unless he shows real signs of having more fight about him this year, no one will pay him anything like $24m - least of all Williams. |

Maybe this is a public way of telling Sir Frank and Patrick that he is worth the £13 mill that he wants for the 2005 season?
For me, Rafes confidence when it comes to his brother will be up since Hungary 03 where he managed to overtake Michael and then drove a brilliant race till the end, this, imo, was why we saw Rafe so "fiesty" when it came to Michael at Japan 03, or a warning to Michael that he won't put up with Michaels excessive defending! (also in Japan 03) |

Maybe Ralf has been braking for Michael due to him probably costing big bro the 1997 WDC(Not shore which race it was taking Michael out on the first corner late in the season). Dont worry Ralf Im shore Michael is over it now.

No news really, but I'm sure inside Ralf cringed right after the words left his mouth. As Homer would say ....... DOOHH !! Ralf did make a nice pass on his brother towards the end of last season that shocked many, especially MS. Hopefully we'll see more of the same this year but I'm not holding my breath.

In all fairness itv seemed to take those comments kind of strangely. I really don't think Ralf intended to say he'd let his brother off easy in the past. I think he was trying to say the opposite.

I suspect that the quote is vastly taken out of context.
I would rather think that Ralf was joking about it. |
