Round 12: Hockenhiem. Driver of the race?
Wrex is still watching the race (how unfair they don't start the coverage until an hour after the start down-under). So I'll start it, to get that reaction.
Usual rules apply. This is who is the driver of the race, not who isn't. Contenders (others can be added, just ask): Michael Schumacher. Winning and in control. Jenson Button. Started low down. Long first stint, second. With a decent battle along the way. Fernando Alonso. Tyre troubles, but better than the car IMO. Mark Webber. A Jag in sixth! Lost in some battles, but then he was in a Jag! A place ahead of Pizzonia (no doubt cheering some!). Kimi Raikkonen.Tantalisingly close. Fastest lap. More fuel on board when he went out? Other notables. DC a decent results after first lap damage. JPM some good moves, but a mistake (horrible car). Fisi, heavy fuel not as good at Hockenhiem. |

Special mention to DC for staying "on it" knowing about his team mate's problem, Webber for all the dicing, Alonso was good but was definitely holding Button up in the second stint.
Sato would be up there too for that move on Trulli but then he reverts to "Banzai" mode and tips it off the island! I bet DR was rally pleased with that one. So for a drive from 13th to second it has to be Jenson. |

Tie between Button and Webber. Went with Webber.

Has to be Montoya considering how bad his car is!
Couldn't vote for Button, considering his team cheated! |

He did do well though - he said his car was damaged at the back after Rubens punted him at the start. Button was on the mark though this afternoon...top drive from surely a top driver. |

Has to be Button, great drive from 13th. Webber did well in the Jag and Kimi could have taken drive of the day if his car had lasted a bit longer. DC and Alonso were there or thereabouts too.

Button, no doubt about it. It can't possible be anyone else. What's this cheating thing about?

Button...hands down.
Honorable mention to Webber...again a Jag in 6th....well done. Small mention to pizzonia. Scored 2 important points to increase the Williams by 1 pt over McLaren. Was running fairly lackluster in 11th, and moved up to 7th during the last stint. Not to mention overtaking Sato in the process. Ended to spots shy of Montoya, not fantastic but not bad for not racing for a year. For a reserve driver in Williams I think he should get the nod and promoted to the official reserve driver over Gene. |

Button. Brilliant drive. What would have have done if he'd started from third? His best race of his career.
Special mentions to: Kimi. How unlucky is this kid? Would have given Schumi a run for his money if the car had stayed together. Webber. Sixth in a Jag, beats the Saubers, Trulli, Toyota and Pizzonia to boot. Certainly at Williams after that one. |

Webber for putting the Jag in a place it shouldnt belong. Closely followed by Button, 12th to 2nd is not too shabby even in a fast car. (while holding your helmet on)

Button has to get the honours, consdierig that he got bundled around on tehf irst lap as well, he did an amazing job to fight through for 2nd. Maybe BAR's season isn't declining quite so much as we thought.

The driver of the race has to be Jenson Button just slightly ahead of Mark Webber.

Got to be Button. 13th to 2nd. Not bad at all! If not for the engine change i think he might have pushed Schumacher and Raikkonen as well.

There is some rule that says the cars must be legal at every point of the race weekend. So how could BAR be allowed to even start the race. They should have been thrown out on Friday night! |
