Red Bull - Klien for another two races at least
Red Bull have comfirmed Christian Klien will race at Turkey and Italy, with Vitantonio Liuzzi remaining the third driver.
Sensible decision, I believe. |

Absolutley, Klien has outperformed Liuzzi this season - I don't think the driver swapping should've happened in the first place but I don't make the decisions.

i'm a bit surprised liuzzi doesn't get to race at monza, but it really is the most sensible option to not be constantly switching drivers.

A shame Italian fans won't see Liuzzi for their home race, but 3 of Klien's races have been over all too quickly through no fault of his own, so he probably does need mroe time than he's had. Their constructors championship position looks settled now, so they might as well make sure they get the right man for 2006.

I can still not make my mind up between Liuzzi and Klien. Yes Klien has performed better and has come on leaps and bounds since last season, but Luizzi had never driven in an F1 race before this year and still did a reasonable job with a point on his debut (although by default) and 9th at Nurburgring. They are both good, but seem so evenly matched, it would be easier if they could just race the third car as well!

Liuzzi has been overwhelming.
If I were Mateschitz, I'd put Klien in the car for the remaining races and next year as well. It's clear who has performed better. |

Klien's doing well, but Liuzzi has hardly competed in many Grands Prix.

I meant "underwhelming" in my previous post.

The team really needs to get an impression of how good Liuzzi is - I can't see any value in keeping Klien in the car beyond Turkey considering that they have acheived their obejctives for the season and have no further to go. The final few races will be harder for Tonio, as other than Spa they are on tracks he hasn't raced at before.

Definitely the best decision - the constant driver-swapping really can't have helped to keep the team settled. Obviously Klien has had more races than Liuzzi, but he's been reasonably solid this season and seems to work well with Coulthard, so it makes sense to stick with him.

Enough swapping for this year. I want to see the battle between Klien & DC.

I think this means they'll just swap one more time: last 4 for Liuzzi then?

I don't like the driver swapping situation. From that perspective Klien should be allowed to drive. On the other hand the situation is unfair to Liuzzi as well. A few races aren't enough to judge his abilities.

I'm not a big fan of the driver swapping idea either, but I'm aware the drivers signed up to that.
That said, Liuzzi hasn't been given a fair crack of the whip yet. Do Klien and Liuzzi's contracts stipulate a certain quantity of races they are supposed to be undertaking this year? |

Have to agree, Klien has been the better performer - dispite Liuzzi only being in the car for 4 races he didn't perform as expected. |

I think klien experience is the only diffrence between him and Liuzze. He's been at most of these tracks before and has just had more race time. If I was Red Bull and was worried about scoring points I would keep Klien in the car but if i was looking to develop drivers and just let David worry about scoring points for the team I would even think about bringing in Scott Speed just to do one race for Experience reasons. I think Red Bull has some great drivers under contract right now the only problem is you can only race 2 of them at a time and DC is ripping it up and has been the entire season so you can't swap him out because he has the potential to bring them home their first podium if a few drivers break down or if it rains or something like that.

Good move. Klein deserves a ride in F1, Liuzzi's time will come so he can show what he can do.

Look at Massa in Sauber, it doesn't hurt to miss a year of F1. Klien would be a very smart man, if Liuzzi got 2006 race seat, to try and get a test drive for Ferrari. After all, Sauber had Ferrari engines, RBR will..so who's to say it won't be Klien and Massa in Ferrari for 2007? I have been lobbying this for quite some time now.
