1936 Talbot BA 75!
Now, before this gets moved to Armchair enthusiast or whatever, may I crave your indulgence because there is, I am told a historic racing connection!
I have been fortunate enough to acquire the above vehicle (1935 chassis) which is fitted with a truly wonderful one off coupe body 'a la Alfa Romeo', by Corsica Coachworks of North London. Apparently, the car was owned from new by a Lord Ridley who, I understand, also owned and raced Alfas before the war. He is said to have comissioned this body for his Alfa which he had entered for the 1936(?) Mille Miglia but for some reason it was never fitted and finished up clothing his road going Talbot (in April 1936?). My research on this is only just beginning but does anyone know anything about this vehicle, Lord Ridley, or indeed the Alfas he raced. My only other piece of info. is that the Talbot took part in one of the Paris Peking Rallies over 10 years ago, during the course of which the bootlid fell off and was run over by one of the following competitors. I am having to have it refabricated along with other work! |

Just discovered that this body was fitted to the Talbot chassis in more recent times (within last 20 years)and that it did in fact spend most of its time on a 2.3 litre Alfa, originally owned by Lord Ridley. So the body, at least is likely to have had a racing career and maybe that did include a Mille Miglia. It seems that a more recent owner of the Alfa decided to fit a replica of the original 4 seater Le Mans type body, so the Corsica body was fitted to a Talbot 75 BA chassis (one of only 142 low chassis built). My gain, I think, since I could never have afforded to buy the Alfa! It is truly an exotic looking prewar car and I hope to be able to post some pics on here soon.
