Rocky Moran
Veteran of most of the pro USA road/oval series of the late 1970s-1990s has died from cancer. I never met him but friends who were his competitors as drivers/entrants in CanAm and CART were always pulling for him to get into a good full time ride. My impression is that he never quite got there. A Daytona 24 hr win, 2 third place finishes in the CanAm series and a couple of top tens in Indy cars were his best results.

Sounds like Rocky Moran was well-respected by his peers, which says a lot about his character and skill. It's a good reminder to appreciate all the drivers who contribute to the sport, not just the big stars. RIP Rocky.

Rocky's career was winding down once I got into IMSA and sportscars more, but knew him during his CART / Indycar days. One of those guys that was quick in anything he got in.
