List of Porsche Factory/Major Drivers
Hello all.
With Porsche having such a huge motorsport presence across the globe, I'd like to assemble a list of all the Porsche factory drivers as well as any drivers who are heavily affiliated with Porsche. This might help us see who could become future Porsche factory drivers and where Porsche is sending its best drivers. To start off, the 11 factory drivers (http://www.porsche.com/usa/eventsand...t/workdrivers/): Joerg Bergmeister Timo Bernhard Romain Dumas Wolf Henzler Marco Holzer Neel Jani Marc Lieb Richard Lietz Patrick Long Patrick Pilet Nick Tandy Mark Webber will probably become #12 starting next year |

So after factory pilots and the Junior squad - is there also a third layer of drivers who are under the wing of Porsche - if not officially.
A guy like Jean-Karl Vernay who is racing in Supercup and has been placed with IMSA Matmut this year. I'm not sure if fellow Supercup drivers Sean Edwards and Kuba Giermaziak have been placed in the ALMS GTC on a similar deal... |

According to this article by RACER, Brendon Hartley and Marc Lieb may fill in the final two spots for the Porsche LMP1 program next year, alongside Mark Webber, Neel Jani, Timo Bernhard, and Romain Dumas. So that means we can add Mark Webber and Brendon Hartley to the factory driver lineup. |

Can't add Hartley until he's confirmed - even though it looks likely.
Looks like a lot of factory drivers will have Red Bull overalls next year too but again, not confirmed. |

No one likes monopolies, really, but I have a feeling that this car would look good in a Red Bull livery. Also, I wonder if it is important that Neel Jani also drove for Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2006...

Seems like the forum meltdown deleted a few posts - but a day after mentioning him on this thread it's tragic to know that Sean Edwards is no longer with us. Such a waste.

Just been reading that Kiwi Earl Bamber has been awarded the 2013 Porsche Motorsport International Cup Scholarship after winning the shootout at Oschersleben.
That gives him some major funding towards his 2014 SuperCup campaign. Jean-Karl Vernay won the inaugural scholarship last year - so it will be interesting to see how the winners of this progress in years to come. http://www.endurance-info.com/en/ear...il-1-supercup/ The shootout contenders this year were: Earl Bamber - Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Maxime Jousse - Porsche Carrera Cup France Alberto Cerqui - Porsche Carrera Cup Italia Ryo Ogawa - Porsche Carrera Cup Japan Daniel Lloyd and Jonas Gelzinis - Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain Johan Kristoffersson - Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia Christofer Berckhan Ramirez - GT3 Cup Challenge Central Europe |

And judging from the pictures from the official unveiling of the 919 Hybrid designation, we can officially add Brendon Hartley to the LMP1 factory driver roster.

Would be a huge surprise if that's confirmed, has he any experience in their GT 2 or 3 cars?

Ragginger is consistently one of the quickest Porsche drivers around, can someone help me to understand why he's not a works driver and wasn't kept on after his junior stint with the factory?

To my understanding, only 1 junior driver could earn factory seat by the end of each year. In 2010 Marco Holzer finished 1st in FIA GT3, 24h Dubai, so even Raggi took 24h Spa(the sole FIA GT2 event)title that year, still he couldn't rank better at Porsche's points system. Similar situation happens this year for Klaus Bachler

Earl Bamber makes the step up to full Factory Pilot status in GTE.
http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/b...actory-driver/ No word on where he'll race yet but not surprising news at all. |

At the rate Bamber's FIA driver medal rating is increasing at he will be rated as a divine being by the new year.
