BackSeat Driver should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
R1 -V8 SuperTourers - Hampton Downs

One or two new teams . . . . what are the rumours on new liveries?

I found this from Boothy on his FB page:

http://www.facebook.com/#!/andyboothracing?fref=ts

And this from Foggy on his:

http://www.facebook.com/#!/Angus.Fogg.Racing?fref=ts

I know there was a schedule deep in another spat infested thread, but if someone can re-post it here, that would be greatly appreciated

Haven't seen one yet, nothing up on their website. It seems normal practice for everyone is to wait until the week before these days.

Like most events, not likely to be sorted until the actual event.

However, should be 20+ V8ST, a dozen NZV8's, 14 V8 Utes, 15 Suzuki, 10 Extreme GT, 25 CMC and almost 30 Honda - something for everybody, really.

It's not unlike Tier One when it was a good show, but with significant improvements particularly in respect to the "Premier" class of the mix. V8ST is a genuine modern premier class utilising quite a bit of current technology, and the supports offer excellent variety.

As you say, and I posted earlier, something for everyone. Congratulations to all involved.

Substantially better than any recent tier one meeting BUT, it would be even better to see some over-subscribed grids, as HD can cope with 40+ saloons.

Great to see CMC & Honda cup with good grids. Maybe Extreme GT (which has some awesome machinery) could have shared a grid with similarly paced cars such as older TransAms/Oscas etc? There is no problem in my mind with having two or more classes on a grid, as this is so much better for everyone. Empty grid spaces equals either a financial dent or a lost opportunity. V8 utes does nothing for me I'm afraid and a grid of 14 does even less. Suzuki could share with Mini to boost that grid, but then sponsorship gets in the way of full grids...

For many people, (me included), this is what would be called a true premier event, even without single seaters. Good to see and it deserves to be a successful meeting for all concerned - so lets hope they are all winners and no losers, financially speaking.

I believe they are - I think they made an announcement the other day Though chances are it'll just be the Edaboc chicks in new threads.

Not that I'm complaining. No, not at all.

Next season they could also put the TLX cars in the Xtreme GT class if they upped the power a bit, I agree it does not matter having mixed grids in these sort of classes.

I don't know how much fuller you will get the Utes, 14 is not too bad I guess as probably most of the other owners seem to be doing Historic racing! If you want big grids there's the E30 BMW class but they're a bit dull I have to say...

I've read it likely won't be this year Pro Racer, hopefully next year at the latest, seeing the cars get out of date was a major frustration with the old series

Quite right Biggy G, the VF is not even officially launched yet, so impossible for us to update for the start of our season so we will indeed wait until the end of this season and update both cars then.

Hi Mark, so does that mean a new falcon as well? Hope so, as the pics i've seen of the new beast look fantastic.

Am biting at the bit for R1. I have quite a bit of work on, which i have to get out of the way first. In fact right now i have to try and find a way to get out of American Samoa due the tsunami warnings. All flights are cancelled or fully booked.

Looks like i may have to put up with 35 degC days with 98% humidity for a bit longer yay!

Must say that the support categories look great and full enough (personally i dont get into the utes, but thats just my opinion...to me its like a whole heap of sparkies, builders, plumbers etc all racing their work cars together!)

Lets hope for great weather. If i remember correctly R1 last year during the friday sessions we were surrounded by convective thunderstorms all afternoon. So we had thunder in the atmosphere, and thunder on the track. Quite fitting really.

And then i think come day 2 we had air temps around 28 DegC with track temps nearly 40 degC i think? (maybe someone can correct me if i am wrong here?)

Oh, its just come over Te News here that all tsunami warnings have been lifted

I heard yesterday that Kayne is no longer driving. Not sure if this means that Simon Evans is contesting the full season or Owen is sitting it out based on the engine debarckles he had last round?

My man from in IMS says that their two cars have hardly been touched since last round and one car has no pilot.

There are at least two seats available as far as I know...

Just found this interesting article on the ST website....

http://www.v8st.co.nz/news-3/306-bnt...-go-green.html

I wonder if with the final move to E85 we will loose the 'visual' aspect of the flames shooting from the exhaust?

Still a good, forward thinking move IMO

We had been using Force 10 Pro (E85 blend) for 3 years now in the rally car and still get the flames. However it's a turbo and it may be easier to tune in this manner. Usually get 1.5km to the litre average.

I'm sure this will be a sponsorship deal

Do we still see flames from V8SC? They've been using E85 for some years now haven't they. Does it mean a drop in power?
