The Italian Grand Prix - race thread
I'm feeling tense - as I do before every Grand Prix - but particularly so today.
Will they all get round the retifillio? What about the second chicane? I also have a feeling today's the day Alonso may have an engine failure or similar. |

Lets hope Alonso gets a bump and Kimi can win to keep the championship alive.

Sorry, I don't want Kimi to be champ!
He's a top-flight driver for sure, but he has absolutely no charisma at all......even less than Mika had! Alosno will make a better champ and ambassador for the sport. ITV in our area are running on reduced power from the TX'er so it mean our picture is well fuzzed. The upside though is that I can't hear James Allen! |

Mika's "public interview" persona was very well judged - it meant he never got bothered with media nonsense.
People who've worked with him say he was charismatic and witty. |

Life and soul of the party eh? Witty I'll give you, but I don't think I could have sat and listened to him giving an after-dinner speech! |

If its personalities we're talking who would I rather spend a night on the town with?
Robo-Kimi proving how much he can drink in a strip club ending up leaving via a bouncer or Alomso in the same club impressing the laydees with his sleight of hand magic and winning smile.. naturally I choose Alonso... Irvines tv assertion that Ron Denis is hiding Kimi the wild man from us did nothing to change my mind! Thus far in the season I hadn't decided who I wanted to win the championship, I have been enjoying Kimi catching up, but now he's within range I'm taking sides.. Come on Fernando!! |

Well I don't normally watch the live timing - wait for the delayed coverage here. But tonight I decide it's better to get some sleep so let's hope it's a good race on the timing front :P

During the first GP of this year Mark Webber remained firmly stuck behind the car he drove last year. Now we're a dozen or so races into the championship and Webber is still stuck behind the car he drove last year.

Oh, the TV coverage. The title contenders are head to head and what are we watching?

Its a good job we've got the commentators to tell us what's going on, isn't it?

That tyre situation for Raikkonen was just rotten luck - looks like it was a puncture rather than a fault.

Tv coverage is missing most "good" bits. Kimi now right behind Fisi, 9 laps to go, and yes an ad break!

With reference to James Allens comment on FA not pushing. I wonder if that's 'cos FA is too smart to wreck his tyres?

Personally, I think JV will be disappointed with his performance today. He tried the shorter fuel strategy but it didn't come off, whereas his teammate used the longer first stint strategy and, although it didn't result in points, Massa was able to finish above JV.
At a familiar circuit, IMO, JV probably should have done better. I do not think he'll be in Formula One next season, much to my chagrin. |

Good win for Gerhard Berger today, the Austrian was flawless. |
