It is really meant for studio work and has a smaller buffer and reduced frame rate compared to the 1D MK-II that I use (along with a 1D original). I can't see it trackside myself, especially at around £6,000 !!!!!

Hopefully the next model will be out in a few months and this one will have dropped by $5000 by then!

the 1D mk2 is about 6k here in Canada, comparable to a D1X about a year or more ago, but a hell of a lot more camera. A new D1X or a D2H are about 4k, so I can't see Nikon trying to sell the D2X for much more than the Canon 1D mk2, just because the mk2 will be just as much "the competition" as the 1Ds mk2. I have a friend who bought a 1Ds early this year and it was still around 9 or 10k and I've seen the files and they really are a step up from a D1X or D100 that I'm used to working on day in day out.
I imagine the D2X will be very comprable to the 1ds and the 1ds mk2 should be close to medium format back quality, although at this level of quality, there probably wont be much difference in how they all look reproduced at magazine size. The RAW files from a 16 body must be pretty hefty, probably near 24mbs a pop. Not alot of frames on a gig card anymore. |

no doubt about it Ayse, to drop 10 grand on a body means that you have to have the types of jobs that can pay it off fairly soon, I'm not in that league at all, but in the end, you gotta pay off the stuff before it is totally obsolete or you've wasted your money.
