safetysam should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Red Flag Rules

Mr Vettel feels aggrieved and thinks the rules are being enforced too strictly when he took 27.7 seconds to slow down when red flags were displayed and received a penalty.

How many car could pass you at racing speed if everyone did that.

I think the steward these days do generally interfere too much but I agree with them on this occasion.

Mr Vettel should be setting a good example.

I agree. I hate the 'I'll slow a bit and see' attitude. He knows what he's supposed to do and he didn't. Even more so than with yellows. Marshals might be needing to get on track to attend to an injured driver and these actions can prevent that.

Point of order - Vettel took 27 seconds to slow SUFFICIENTLY to meet the required standard. In actual fact he slowed more or less immediately upon the production of the red flag but did not get down to the required 'delta' until nearly 30 seconds after.

Still a crime and the punishment is justified for sure but it's unfair to suggest that he completely ignored the RF for 27 seconds.

So, he "completely ignored" the red flag rules then?

It seems he exercised his judgement about how much to slow and when. However, the current rules have removed that right since it's generally accepted that a driver's judgement about slowing for flags is not particularly reliable or well informed...
