Historic MGs at Mallory, 4th June on MotorsTV
This doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere else, but Julius has organised a MG only race at Mallory this coming Bank Holiday Monday. It is a 30 minute race and will go out live on MotorsTV on Monday afternoon with repeat showings of the highlights during the following few weeks. As they distribute in 39 countries, I am looking to a large increase in the fan base
There is a full grid of 30 cars plus one reserve. 16 MGBs including Barry S-S in the LeMans car and the rare Coune Berlinette of Bob Ridgard (does he have one of his own seats fitted?). The GT class has 5 Midgets - 2 of them are Ashley bodied, one Lenham and yours truly in the WSM. From an earlier period there is an eclectic mix of T-types, the Dick Jacobs YB Special and four MG Magnette Saloons. Extra variety comes from 2 MG 1100s being fielded by Shaun Rainford and Steve Atkinson. Hopefully the other drivers will read the finals and notice that it is a rolling start - possibly a novelty for some as Julius' races are normally standing starts. However things may change by the time we get to the circuit..... Went testing at Brands today. Spent most of the time watching the mirrors as I was out in the sessions with the Britcar saloons and they take no prisoners. Always a challenge when they are on slicks and I'm out on 4.50 L section Dunlop Historics, cornering capabilities are a little different. The journey home on the M25 was even worse. Roll on Monday. |
