Usually good day out, please come and join us

It will be my 7th NW stages this year, each one doing the same role but now running the PC having been trained over time and now more than happy to train others if anyone wants to learn the black art

BRMC North has been asked to reprise its role in running Hillhouse on this years North west Stages.

Its on the first saturday of february, the 5th i think that is! and we have two runs, run twice, hope thats clear.

Whilst Hillhouse isnt exactly the most, um, classic of rally stages, it was jolly entertaining last year. As ever I have all jobs available, with one exeption, Nigel Watwood shall be in the stage commanders chair, or boots. so if there is something in particular you wish to do let me know.

At the moment it looks like keen types could get to the prom or weeton, for thier later running, however the timetable is not totally set yet, but the Hillhouse runs should be similar to last year, 7 ish sign on to midday.

Extract from email recieved from Ian Briggs.

You can contact me if your going to join us in Hillhouse and I'll pass your name on.

I'll see everyone there. This staying at home on weekends is not good, her indoors keeps finding me jobs to do.

Should be a good fun event.

I am the contact point for staffing "A non spectator stage near Fleetwood" is how the organisers would like it described. PM me if you would like more details

There was a biggish thread last year where I described how a 2 lap, runtwice concurrently, rallystage runs.
However if you imaging a rallystage with cars every 15 seconds and the overtaking that inevitably happens then you are getting the gist.

The stage is tarmac, but the Tar is under a couple of centimeters of slime/dust depending on the rain or lack of. No you would not be required to brush the stage between cars......

The entry is nearly capacity, with at least 6 full house WRC cars, plus some interesting things like a 911 and the worlds fastest Forrester (car that is)and 4by4 turbo Fiestas and Pumas

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8kZa...eature=related

Is the only video I can find of the stage, the quality isnt great, however just after the car starts, on the left is a sign saying "Merge" this is where the cars starting the second lap join. After this sign was knocked off, a certain 10/10thser stood in that very spot trying to re-attatch the sign.

I learned a valuable lesson doing that, the lesson being "I want to live!" That said it is a vital piece of in stage furniture and it needed mending! However, that said, if it needs doing again, take it out of the line of fire, repair it and return at next convenient point!
Im there again this year, my third!, and looking forward to another fantastic couple of days setting up and the stage running! See you there

Bah, dont mention the trackday, unable to wriggle out of work.

Update on stage due to a lot of blackpools prom being dumped on part of it, the merge is now in a different place and the startline looks like it is right next to a bit of the live stage, its going to be a like when they had no pit wall at circuits!

Really tempted to join the gang on this one. There's a possibilty I am otherwise engaged but if not I'd be there like a shot.

I'm sure someone would take me under their Rally wings for a day wouldn't they?

Ell.

Thanks Faz and Justin!

I should hopefully know what i am up to in the next week, so I will let you know one way or the other if I can play out with you guys.

Watched loads of vids of last years event and the current lack of track/motorsport action has hit home. Need a fix! Got Rescue and Marshal training coming up which is going to be great but on track action is where it's at.

This should blow the cobwebs away nicely, looks like we will need a chicane team to do fast rebuilds as we have a new chicane that looks erm, interesting

I would be quite glad to be on the new chicane, but I feel Ian has another job in mind for me, somewhere on the stopline I think, nowhere near the merge this year!

I've had an email from Liverpool MC inviting me to assist at Weeton (we've done some marshalling with them on Rally of the Tests etc) so I think I may well be there......years since I've competed at Weeton.....

Oh Yes, the big fella in the big hat is i/c stopline.*

You are doing the timekeepers course at stockport arn't you Justin?

*Actually, given the high speed approach to the stop, and the likely lack of grip, it might be a case of skid line rather than stop line....
