Noob--Unusual old race car question

Hello all.

I have a question concerning an old race car that a freind saw at a car show recently.

The car looked like a mid-sixties endurance racer to me, he thought it may be a Can-Am car. In any case, we're not sure either way.

The name on the door is "John James Racing." A quick Google search on John James showes that a driver named John James privateered a formula one Maserati in 1951, but only for one race. I don't know if its the same guy.

In any case, I have attached a picture of part of the car (my buddy isn't too bright and, therefore, he didn't shoot the whole car). The car is powered by a Chrysler Hemi engine and it appears to be a mid-sixties 426 due to the cross-ram manifold.

If anyone can tell me anything, I'd really appreciate it. The curiosity is killing me.

Thanks for your help.

It's a Bob McKee creation. It is the Chevette version powered by a Plymouth motor that was raced in the USRRC series before CAN-AM. Built in Chicago Illinois. I saw it a Road America in 2001. A neat race car.

McKee Can-am Hemi from '67

Finally got the site up and running. Hopefully this helps answer your questions. John Rasmussen is the current owner and lives in Mesa Arizona. And yes the car is for sale.
