Aintree Racing Drivers School
What do you all think of this?
I took it from the Aintree Racing Drivers School Championship Website, its a scholarship which will see the best three drivers geting fully funded fford drives. First you have to go through a Qualifying round to get to a semi final. The best 12 drivers from the semi's go through to the final in June and will undergo assessments and timed test sessions in a race-prepared Formula Ford 1600 car. After their lapping sessions, a panel of expert judges will analyse each contestants lap times and driving marks and assess their promotability and suitability to receive the accolade of one of our fully sponsored drives. All twelve grand finalists will be given the opportunity to lap a Formula 3 car and a Formula 1 car prior to the presentation of garlands, champagne and trophies to the three prize winners. The first three placed drivers in the final will recieve the following. 1st = Fully paid Formula Ford test. 4 races in Formula Ford Championship 2nd = Fully paid Formula Ford test. 3 races in Formula Ford Championship 3rd = Fully paid Formula Ford test. 1 race in Formula Ford Championship |

I've attempted the scholorship twice, second time I got to the semi's and was placed 22 out of 130+ I needed to improve my lap times a little to get to the finals.
Well worth a go if you're interested, and certainly one of the cheapest ways to try out a FF1600. |

Hmmm...Over 130 people got to the semi's? That's an awful lot of entry fees!
I wonder how many entered in the first place then? Prices (inc VAT) Qualifying Rounds £245.00 Semi-Final Stage £245.00 (successful applicants from qualifying rounds only) Oh but hang on, they do include a Packed Lunch for all drivers!!! Last edited by Francesca; 2 Mar 2002 at 19:05. |

I meant there were about 130+ in total that entered, i would guess that half that got through to the semis.
The price did include food vouchers for the onsite cafe. |
