Directions to Le Mans
I have posted this in other forums (fora?) so apologies if you have read this before.
If you are driving down to Le Mans and are not too sure of the route I can provide a complete set of instructions from Calais. They use the autoroute where available and the N138 where not. They take you through the route through Rouen in some detail which is the only really tricky bit. If you would like a copy drop me a line at FrancisGriffinFPL@hotmail.com FG |

We've done the trip 22 times now (there and back), and have tried a variety of routes. We generally wander a bit to take in some of the scenery and take the car for a run.
However we are always interested in new routes and it will be interesting to see how yours differs from our standard route. Why not post it here (I'll drop you a mail anyway!) |

We do the route about 5 times a year with a car full of kids. Speed is of the essence as a chorus of "Are we nearly there yet?" starts about 10 minutes out of Calais. The directions are probably of interest only to those who aren't too sure of where they are going, but I'm happy to send you a copy. FG Last edited by FG1; 23 May 2002 at 17:49. |

Thanks for that FG1. It's set me to thinking. Does anyone else have the routes written down from the other ferry ports? Its just that I can think of somewhere where they might be posted........

I've got one from Calais as well, but it does include the route missing out Rouen, going via the toll bridge if anyone is interested.
I also have the directions for the small diversion to the old Rouen race circuit if anyone is interested. Simon |

I've got the routes from both Le Havre and Caen both nice easy runs, the one from/to Le Havre has a nice stretch along some good quiet roads.

On our trip down to Pre-qual, we found Rouen a tricky little place to navigate, particularly coming back...Would be grateful for some assistance...I'll e-mail you FG1.
Thanks |

You can avoid Rouen completely by taking the Autoroute to the North or minor roads to the South. But going through on the main roads is not bad if you know where you are going. The trickiest bit is getting the correct turning after the tunnel!

I'd be very grateful if those with good routes would (preferably) e-mail them to me, or, failing that, send me a PM with the info.
