...but more to the point yes I would agree with you. Red does seem to be the colour of motor-racing these days, with F1 having Red Ferraris, BTCC having Red Vauxhalls and the WRC having Red Citroens and Peugeots. I was expecting a blue BMW or a plain white one like the ones back in the 90's, but it seems like this one is following its rivals.

Why not the BMW colors: white blue?

I think the reason for the non White/Blue colours is that the edenbridge car is not a works BMW. If it was, then for sure it would be white and blue, and not white and red.

Then again it could have something to do with red and white being the corporate colours of Edenbridge's main sponsor (Mezzanine). I'm sure if you come up with enough money to sponsor the team Peter will happily run it in colour your want.
That said I do partially agree with you about being too many red cars. |

Even though blue/white maybe "BMW colours", BMW can't stop Edenbridge from racing with a blue/white colour scheme?

There are definitely too many red cars.
I say bring back purple and yellow like the 93 Mazda. Garish but different! |

The ETCC/BTCC can learn a lot from the DTM/STCC/JGTC/WCTC regarding car paint schemes!

We painted the new car red and white for a number of resons, Mezzanine have been sponsors of ours for over 13 yrs. we had to find a different scheme to our production cars and to be different to the BMW s in ETCC. Colours do depend on sponsors , hopefully if things work out we will have a different scheme in 2004.

At the end of the day, does it matter? It's another pair of cars.

I think colour is very important. I can remember reading and seeing how well the Japanese GT championship is with there colours, yellow, orange, white, green, blue..etc on McLaren F1's and Honda NSX's, looked brilliant!!!!!!!!!
I would like to see teams having different colours (easy to spot them around the track) but the thing that really gets to me is that teams keep the same look for over 2 years...gets boring after some time, seeing the same coloured car for such a long time. But hay, if a red BMW keeps sponsors happy, that will keep the sport happy too. |
