Funny, after a 6-month sabbatical of the GT series, I was JUST checking out gtplanet again. And found this! Thanks, FAS33!
Why isn't this in the virtual racers section, though? Are you suggesting that V8 Supercars will be the latest GT6 installment? |

I'm extremely surprised that they are starting to promote the game so... late! 7 months is like nothing.

No Gran Turismo game has ever been out within about 3 years of its original launch date, so unless this is a mild update on GT5 I can't see it being even remotely close to happening.

Hopefully they will bring it out on the Playstation 4. Personally I cannot wait to race around Bathurst!

As long as they make it a new build (which they wont) and offer some new stuff (which they wont)
Then it might be worth buying. But it will be late (it always is) it will be full of bugs (the last one was) and it will contain a lot of tripe and some great cars thrown in. I do hope its different, but it hasnt really been for 10 years, and why would Polyphony change it if thousands keep buying a patched GT4 every year that calls itself a new game! But I may be wrong. |

I'll never get excited for a GT after last time.
I just think the franchise has been and gone now. There's other better races out there and much more customisation! Selby |

I have to say though, allthough I'm a big fan of Gran Tourismo, that they've been resting on their laurels for far to long. The gameplay is still good(allthough one should never compare it to the real sims like GTREvo/Race and rFactor) the graphics are beautifull and the wide range of cars to choose from is lovely but it all falls down for me on the sound of the cars. Polyphony keeps stressing they've done their utmost to make it all as realistic as possible but that's just simply not the case. Compared to all their competitors, the engine sounds in all GT games have been mediocre at best. Most of the cars sound dull and anodyne. Just a few sound o.k. and bare some resemblance to the real thing but overall it's just, well, shite, for lack of a better word... Even the first itteration of GTR(way back in 2005)was a revelation concerning engine noise. The Vipers sounded like the real V10's and the Saleens just blew out the cones of your speakers, so it's not such a big thing to get it right. I think Polyphony have lost a much needed humbleness and in so doing have lost their resolve to make everything as true to real life as possible... |

Basically there is never going to be anything that will run on both of these platforms. The reason they are rushing GT6 out now is because its made for PS3 and they have to start again for PS4, which is basically a PC.

I've always been a fan of GT. I grew to like GT5 despite some teething problems and I still think it is one of the best racers during a fairly poor generation for racing games.
However, I've come to realise that much of that love of GT5 was because I never bothered to buy GT4 as I didn't see the point of it so I had gone nearly 10 years without a new GT game. With the above in mind and my general feelings about the franchise...I really don't see the point of this game. It just seems like a cash-grab before this generation ends. Looking at the specs, they haven't exactly added a lot have they? 100 or so new cars and seven new tracks? Nice one. But I expect thousands of cars now - especially when we already had 1000. If we can have 30 MX5s or Skyline's why can't we have other evolutions of cars? Why not give us some more popular MKs of Escorts, Caviliers/Vektras rather than just the odd 'racing spec' model. There are still tons of other cars to add too, European models and still low on number compared with Japanese models. I realise part of the reason is space on the disk and what the system can handle but they are trying to sell a product here and surely more could have been done in three years (or longer)? Really with what they have announced so far it sounds like less effort has been made than your standard CoD game and that comes out every year! Maybe I am being a bit harsh as there isn't a great amount of detail about the game but it just seems that not a lot has been done. Have they changed B-Spec? The main thing I've always wanted on a GT game is a longer campaign mode. Hell, give us races for every specific car/class but make them optional. Still give us a progress ladder of sorts but make it much wider. Instead of giving us a choice of 2-3 races until we progress give us a choice of 10 so we can pick and choose what we want to do. It is all well and good having a choice of 1200 cars but if we can logically complete the game by being forced to use 20 of them then there is little point putting that amount of cars in the game. Overall, this game just sounds like the one that SHOULD have come out three years ago just with a couple of extra cars and tracks that they have had time to develop. I'd to be glad if all 1200 cars are premium models and look great but they should have all looked like that on GT5. But anyway, for me they have to do more than just making it look good as i've outlined above. Last edited by beau1; 16 May 2013 at 07:07. |

Polyphony have been playing the same card for many years now I am afraid
Racing games have moved on, titles like the WRC ones and Dirt series have made it much easier to get on with and more fun. GT series games are very boring, far too anal and too much based around prettiness and little else. The sheer fact that you are still racing on the basic same tracks as the first game or variations of that theme are basic facts, not complaints. How long do we have to race the Focus rally car the white one, and a whole host of other cars that are just paint variants of a Skyline or Lancer. Simply put, GT is lazy, there are no other dsimulation based racing titles for the Playstation and the newer GT versions are simply patched versions of GT3, they contain the same cars, tracks and driving feel. Forza and others make this game look dted and slow I am afraid. Yes the new game has additions to bring it up to date, but to release a game when only some of the cars have interiors! I mean come on guys, that is pathetic, plain pathetic. I will applaud them in one way, the online experience is good, the constantly updating cars and weekyl challenges is a great way to keep people playing, I just hope these guys have more input next time as this part of the game was fine. |

As seen at E3, the Deltawing will be featured in the game, as well as the BMW Z4 GT3 and willow springs.
Video will be coming soon |

It feels like Gran Turismo is a series stuck trying to catch up. On GT boards people talk as though some additions would put GT back on par with games like Forza, but they're treating Forza as a franchise that's standing still. It isn't standing still, but constantly improving. Sure, GT6 is trying to catch up with FM4, but all the while FM5 is on the way right beside it with even more improvements and innovations.
Once upon a time, GT had no serious console competition. If you were serious about racing you had GT and that was it. It was a prettier game with better physics and far more content than other console racers. Those days are behind the franchise, with very stiff competition out there that produces more content in less time and offers a generally superior player experience. If PD can't get their act together, it seems like it should just be a matter of time before GT fans have generally drifted away from the franchise. |

I have both forza4 and gt5 there's no comparison n24 is 1 of many reasons GT is better. Granted Forz has the best cars but it is so damn boring and repetitive.

In case anybody is having trouble falling asleep at night, there is a GT6 demo that became available four days ago. It isn't presented as a GT6 demo but rather as Nissan GT Academy, but it's GT6.
I reckon most folks here are probably running 1080p on their televisions, but folks running 720p are being assaulted by a relentless barrage of "jaggies" due to horrible aliasing issues. Shadows are really buggy, as well, and both of these can be very distracting once you start noticing them, which should come within minutes of starting to "race." I put that in quotation marks because, as in typical PD fashion, you aren't really racing so much as playing overtake-the-parade. You once again don't have grid starts but rather rolling starts at the tail of a string of slower cars spread out ahead of you and just gradually pass them over a couple laps. I'm reminded of an episode of Top Gear wherein Jeremy was talking about the McLaren MP4-12C and about the straight-faced seriousness of the McLaren folks. He said something about getting the impression that nobody has ever put a whoopie cushion on the boss's seat. This is basically Polyphony Digital, who have absolutely no concept of fun. They seem to have tried ramping up the excitement in their presentation by having a cheesy flag-waving animation leading up to starting an event, wherewith a flag waves across the screen. Good job, PD, you've caught up with racing game presentation from 1997. |
