UK Race Venues- Changes/Improvements etc

Looking forward to the forthcoming season and just wondered if any UK venues had made any changes/improvements to their circuit or infastructure for 2012?

Pit lane buildings, race control, timing & media centre going up at Anglesey Run-off area at Druids, Brands Hatch has been extended. There's 2 changes I can think of.

I heard some rumblings about flag points at Silverstone getting roofs, towards the end of last season, but I'm not sure how accurate that was or what the timeframe was.

Yes, I heard about revamped Flag and PC points at Silverstone for this year - but I have heard that the IO's were going to a digital radio system "over the winter" for at least the last 4 years too...... I will hopefully find out on Sunday!

Are they looking at the positioning of them again? There were some rumours last year that they were up for reviews - on the new circuit some of them seem to be in some very strange places, really not good for eyelines of either drivers or marshals which is a shame because previously I've always found Silverstone to be really good for judging blues and communicating well with drivers

Now that's a proper upgrade - nice one Gurston for thinking of the marshals once again.

I dont like the posts on the "new" part of Silverstone,I feel like a spectator, the drivers are unable to see you,The post are in some very strange places. When(if) the posts are resighted it would be agood idea to get the help of regular flaggies
AND drivers together at the same time.

The flag points around the arena/loop at Silverstone were a best estimate in advance of first running and there hasn't been time to move them yet. I know there have been a number of discussions with regular flaggies and post chiefs about where they should be located.

As ever with these matters, the relevant staff at any circuit will welcome constructive suggestions.

I would imagine further away - there were at least a couple of big hits there last season, that actually moved/cracked the wall.

The spectator crossing point at Oulton park has been moved from Druids to the pit straight. The spectator area on the outside of the deer leap has had a lot of the hill removed and some trees removed.

Thank goodness for that Mike. It'd be a nightmare up at Druids, nevermind at Lodge.

Whooops, that'll teach me to be thinking of one corner and type the name of another.

Styles are going in at Oulton too, to assist us to get over fences to post. Better than ripping your overalls/waterproofs on the fence as you climbed through/over it I suppose.
