Help needed for Marshals Training
I'm not sure if any of you can help here, but I have a video clip which I need transferring to DVD for training purposes. Has anyone got the facilities to do this? Please PM or e-mail me if you can assist.
Thanks Sheila |

Sheila.
If you email me the clip or tell me where it is on a website, I could burn to CD or DVD for you. Email to steve@curborough.co.uk Steve |

Sheila,
I am afraid I do not have a DVD recorder at present, can only cope with files already converted. Sorry Steve |

Sheila, just a thought - have you contacted the copyright holder (a) for permission and (b) to see if they can help with a DVD?

If you are using it for marshals training though it implies it will be for something other than personal use, which is what you are allowed to record things off the telly for generally. If in doubt, it would only be courteous to check.

I'm guessing that possibly what Sheila has is footage from a circuit camera rather than TV footage? It needs to be converted from the TV/VHS format to a file that can be played through a PC DVD player using something like Windows Media Player?
Sheila try the Photography Forum - Mike Hoyer's brother produced a good Le Mans .wav file last year so he might have the right gear. If you get stuck I've got another source of info that might be helpful. |

Hi Shelia,
If you haven't sorted this out already I would be able to do it. PM me and I'll give you my details to send the video, unless it would be possible to pick it up at the Autosport show on Friday. Cheers, Neal |

Yes it is.
I spoke with Sheila about this last night, what she has is VHS off the TV and needs it put onto DVD. As for permissions to use footage of Sheila, that is another issue all together |

Didn't we have that discussion before Jase and decide that by signing on as an official at an event then you had to reasonably expect to feature in media coverage of it?

I'm not advocating breaching anyone's copyright but in Sheila's position for using the footage for Marshals' training purposes I wouldn't be too concerned about the copyright aspect. |

I think the simple answer is the TV company own the copyright and therefore it should not be broadcast publicly without there permission regardless of who is in it or not.
I have a similar tape that i would like to convert to DVD but I would be unable to show that publicly for a number of reasons including copyright, yes Sheila it is the one you are thinking of. |

The real issue with your tape is the copyright. |
