getting started
hi to all
just joined the forum looking for some advice on getting started up ie car choice and req spec (im thinking of a nova gte 205 gti ) clubs to join etc ? hope you can all be of some help cheers Darren |

My advice would be to look through the MSA Blue Book - http://www.msauk.org/site/cms/conten...p?article=1122. Especially sections K & S (but not only these. Then you'll start to see the requirements for clothing and car prep etc.
205 always a good fun and competitive car. I used a Saxo VTS and the Pug 106 GTi is also competitive - ideally the 106 over the Saxo even though they are much the same. Forget about the car for now. You will have enough expense buying overalls, helmet, gloves etc. Now think about your car. Use your road car for a few events to see if you enjoy the sport. Your road car is bound to fit in one class. Once the bug has bitten then think about something different. Maybe just move up to a modified road legal car. If your lottery numbers come up maybe buy a trailer and get a Radical or a single seater. Whatever, welcome to our branch of the sport.
You will find your fellow competitors will be happy to help you. My club is organising sprints at Mallory and Curborough, come along and chat to us and we will try to help you. |
