Belgian Grand Prix 2022: Grand Prix Weekend Thread - Round 14 of 22
It's time to put the bucket and spade away, as we go racing again. The second half of the year is going to unfold and unleash a flurry of tracks and events and the final battles for the championship places.
I'm still on holiday, so I'll be back with a preview for Zandvoort. |

So we are back at Spa. Let's hope for another great race. Well actually let's hope for a race full stop, after last year's debacle.
Liking the look of the revamp they've done, hopefully should bring some challenge back to Spa. We'll see come qualifying and the race. That said, it does look less like this was once a public road circuit. However it would be a massive shame if this is the last time we see F1 cars race round here. This is a circuit everyone loves, drivers and fans particularly and to lose it would be a travesty, especially if it is replaced by another bland Mickey Mouse circuit. Really hopes it stays, Spa has a great history and is still fun to watch. |

Spa - love this track, when it's dry or only a little bit wet. Hopefully will be the former this year with Europe's drought / hot weather.
Love the understatement of the review BR - nice work & enjoy your holiday. |

Talk is that Leclerc and Verstappen will both start from the back of the grid.

Guess it will be a race to submit the "these bits be broke" paperwork and have the fewest broken bits, don't they put them to the back in order received by time and then total penalty "points" accrued?

I'm looking forward to the return of the F1 circus after the summer break, particularly as Spa is one of my favourite tracks on the calendar.

e.g if Leclerc Q's in 8th and Verstappen in 10th - Leclerc starts ahead of Verstappen. |

Harms Leclerc more than Max, with the way the championship standings are atm. He needs a big weekend and Max to have a bad one and they might have just missed the opportunity for one…. |

So at this rate of engine penalties Max and Charles are gonna start on the 3rd row!

I'm really looking forward to this race now with Verstappen and Leclerc at the back of the grid. It has all the signs of a Hamilton in Brazil drive and I have put a cheeky bet on Verstappen to win from the back.

With both Verstappen and Norris at the back, Stroll is likely to be the highest place Belgian on the grid!
Max though is looking good after yesterday's practice, so he should not be written off. Especially after his recovery drive at the last GP. Of course weather could still play a part... |

Sainz takes Pole. Perez joins him on the front row, followed by Alonso and Hamilton. Verstappen starts 15th and Leclerc 17th.

Ridiculous lap by Max. Class of his own. Shame it won't be remembered but stunning pace nonetheless.

Great lap from Verstappen... to start 15th. Sainz on pole from Checo, with Alonso 3rd. Should be an interesting run to the first corner

Initially a clean start but Hamilton and Alonso tangle.
Edit: Hamilton out. |

FCY as Bottas gets beached in the gravel trap, after getting tagged by Latifi.
