Jaguar GT3
Apex motorsport will be developing the Jaguar XKR coupe for the FIA GT3 championship.
Story in full on DSC. 'Stuart Dyble, Jaguar Board Director and Vice President, Communications and Public Affairs, Premier Automotive Group and Ford of Europe, said, "We welcome this initiative which will result in production Jaguar sportscars being seen once again on race circuits across Europe. We are just launching the all-new Jaguar XKR road car and GT3 is the natural race series in which to compete. We wish Apex every success."' |

Indeed. Remember that Jaguar and Aston Martin are on sale by Ford Premier Automotive Group.

It is the obvious new car to race. Good luck to them. Do you think the plan will be to fund it by selling versions of the race (a bit like Prodrive does with Aston, but on a smaller scale)?

Yes the original rumours were Jag and Volvo brands were to be sold 'together' possibly to Regie but Ford have decided to concenrate on selling Aston as it is the most profitable of the 3 currently.
will be interesting if Aston becomes 'independent' again or gets snapped up by a big manufacturer to continue to good work? The GT3 Jag sounds nice, if Ford keep Jag maybe we'll see a new GT1 XK before long - that would be ace!! Then we'd have Aston v new Jaguar v Maserati v Saleen v Corvette v new Ferrari? |

Nice to see Richard Lloyd back . They won the first race i attended back at Brands in 1986 , 956-106B with brilliant Bob Wollek and Mauro Baldi . Last race for 956-117 i think too .
Be nicer to see the RLR name back again too . |

Rumours are Aston could be bought by the guy, or his company, who runs Mowlem in Speed GT, and have recently started sponsoring the factory GT1 team. Whatever, it will be good to have Aston indepenent from Ford as it increases the likelyhood of Aston AND Jaguar sportscar programs. |

A generic GT car
The factory had a cautious low key start back in 1982 when the XJS started racing. That involvement grew through the next decade. I feel low key is a good start again, all guns blazing would be wrong. They are still serving their penance for that last effort. One that they could drop the "R" logo which harks back to those days we should not speak off. |

Apropos nothing take a look at the original Aston DBRS9 and then look at the late season version - You will notice way more similarity between the GT3 and GT1 versions

I doubt a price will come out for a while yet. The car won't be on sale until 2008 or the end of 2007 at the earliest. Apex Motorsport will be running the factory cars next year.

I think it looks decent enough. I enjoyed watching the XKR in the Trans-Am series before it went defunct. P.Gentilozzi/Rockrtsports Racing was quite fun to watch in thier Jags. I wonder if any of it applies to the new effort?!!

A day at the TT with Apex was auctioned on BBC Radio 2 Wake up to Wogan for Children in Need. It included a ride in the car and was at £12K the last I heard. I guess they are confident it will all come together.
