Porsche Cayman Cup
I understand there are Porsche Cayman Cups in Italy and France. Maybe your answer is who cares, but I always thought Porsche doesn't want racing versions of the Cayman. Both Alzen Motorsport (VLN & Nurburgring 24h) and Prospeed (GT4) were forced to stop racing with the Cayman otherwise they could not buy 997's.

Maybe one-model series are okay because there's no possibility of beating 911s?

I am waiting for the day that Porsche decides to position the Cayman (or a hotter descendant with a different name and higher price) above the 911.

There is a spec Cayman series in North America.

Don't they look amazing!!
If I had (lots of) money to burn, I would go to Prodrive for a Cayman RSR and set out to beat the 911 in GT2. In fact, with all the factory parts available (namely engine and sequential 'box), it would not be nearly as costly as developing a 550. |
