Longhurst & Richards confirmed at HRT!
Just read on www.hsv.com.au that HRT have confirmed Tony Longhurst and Jim Richards for the enduro's. It doesn't mention who will partner up for the races but I would say that given Kelly isn't in the running for Championship honors then he will drive with Skaife. Have the 2 lead drivers in the lead car with Tony and Jim in the other car. Any thoughts??

I understand that Richo lost favour inside SHRT last year when the rain came, and Rusty pulled a sizable gap from the alleged rainmaster..... no biggy when they won anyway I suppose, but Mr Longhurst is the younger of the two, and when in the mood can be white hot.....

The again Longhurst had a rush of blood which cost him the race and a finish a few years ago, so if I had the choice the Jim's drive is the one I'd pick.
Especially being as how Bathurst counts towards the championship which is much closer this year. Better to drop a spot or two than to DNF in my books. |

The Longhurst SBR Bathurst thing was interesting... Besnard was miles off the pace, as much as 3 and 4 seconds a lap off Tony.... so DB did the minimum number of laps while TL did the magic, and wore himself out.... the SBR car was doing 2.16's at best, while GRT was in the 2.14's.... something wrong somewhere....

Don't forget before Richards was tutoring Skaife, he was doing the same for Longhurst in the JPS BMW days so they would be a good pair and are good mates also

If Skaife is the *owner* of HRT, then I would have thought he would have selected JR to co-drive??? Maybe MS doesn't call all the shots in his *own* team??? |

The use of the term "owner" intimates that perhaps there was monetary consideration in use.... not in this case I fear
The view I understand was Mr Grech's not Mr Skaife's.... |

I would've thought being the defending champions Skaife/Richards would be the one's teamed up for Bathurst.

Surely it would be Skaife/Richards, and being the defending race winners would be as good a reason as any other.
Regarding the "loss of favour" scenario inside the team due to Ingall closing him down in the rain, that is a juicy titbit GTR. Care to share more? |

Mr Grech and the boys did a post race analysis, as they always do, and as far as I understand critiqued the drivers of the 2 lead cars.... the loss of time by Richo, and some mistakes in the car getting sideways and the like throughout the day, seemed to put some stress on the vehicle more than the team may have liked......
We shall see but I dont think it will be a repear of the 2002 pairing |

I think Skaife will choose Longhurst.
If Skaife and Longhurst win, then the papers will read – Skaife wins Bathurst. If Skaife and Richards win, then the papers will read – Skaife and Richo wins Bathurst. Skaife, being the team owner and the ego, would no doubt choose TL ... |

I don't think MS would choose TL if JR was quicker. Is he? |
