P38 in workshop has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I think what Alpine found is the old truism that wet weather reveals which cars might be rather good if they had a better power unit as the basic design is sound but can't demonstrate it with the power unit it has installed.

Alpine. They took full advantage of the circumstances.

Having said that, part of the circumstances was down to luck with the red flag rules. It would be a much fairer system if tyre changes were not allowed during red flag stoppages. It might also be safer as you wouldn't have cars running around on unsuitable tyres hoping a red flag will gift them a free pit stop.

The rules that allow you a free change of boots under red flag have shown themself to really screw people over when they where smarter, and then someone got freebie they shouldn't get. I strongly dislike that rule.

At this race I guess everyone smiles at the fortunes of Alpine, but as I don't think they did much to create that fortune themself, I wont vote for them.


I put my vote to the hard working mechanics who got all the cars ready after qualification turned into such a mess! A special shout out to the poor guys and gals at Williams. You're my heroes.
