ILMC 2011 Discussion
Well I guess with teams and mfgs. starting to declare their participation, or want of doing, it is time to open this.

Audi x 2 Peugeot x 2 Aston x 2? (1 at Sebring) Oreca Peugeot x 1? |

Oak x2 P1
Drayson x1 (possibly) x2 P1 Of the rest I would think Rebellion and Strakka are possibles. I think Highcroft maybe interested as they have Le Mans overall win ambitions. Last edited by JAG; 16 Sep 2010 at 21:13. |

The American rounds of the Le Mans are:
March 19 - Sebring October 1 - Road Atlanta Now the question is where will Silverstone fit, because the ALMS has race on August 21, September 3 and September 17. |

I think that we wont see any GT2 team making a full season ILMC. Porsche has teams on both sides of the atlantic and i don't believe that Felbermayr will go to Seabring and Petit Le Mans or Risi coming to Silverstone or Spa for exemple. Same goes to Ferrari and BMW.
Frankly, they should had kept things simple in the beginning and kept the championship limited do LMP1 class. For most of the average fan (well... for all of them), it will be very difficult to understand why the teams don't make a full season entry, and the average fans is the one who will decide if this championship is going to be a success, or not. Drivers, Team and Constructors titles for LMP1, and only Constructors titles for the rest, but, separating chassis from engines. Frankly, the average fan don't understand why the constructor title goes to a specific chassis/engine package. Chassis makers should be awarded for having a car that wins with multiple engines, and engines makers should be awarded for making an engine that wins with different chassis. Concerning the team title, ALMS is doing a wonderful job. Only full season entries can fight for championships, and only the best result counts to the Teams Championship. I understand that a car having more than 1 driver is a "Team", but once again, the average fan doesn't... Last edited by LeMans.pt; 17 Sep 2010 at 11:37. |

Appaprently the rule is that if you want to do the ILMC, you have to commit to do all seven rounds

Not known yet. Corvette Racing usually plays things pretty close to the chest.

I heard there was going to be a teams championship in order to encourage GT teams to run a full season.

There already is a Team Cup, in all 4 categories. There was however discussion of adding a Drivers Cup, something which is not in place in 2010.

Keep it simple and understandable for the average fan, or people will still find this sport to damn incomprehensible, and therefore, to hard to follow. It is already hard to sell because the races are longgggggggggggg... why make it impossible? |

As for budgets teams would need to fork out for four extra events not seven. All teams will already be going to Le Mans and competing at either Spa/Silverstone or Sebring/PLM. There's no doubt an ILMC entry is easier for European teams to fit around their smaller LMS schedule, or replace it entirely, than their US counterparts. |

I disagree with a drivers championship. Le Mans is a team sport, not an individual sport.
How about this idea for the teams championship: only the best two results in Europe and the best two in North America are taken. This would allow teams to fight for the championship without having to race everywhere, but still demanding to visit the three continents. |

The media latch onto driver rivalries so it's another angle to promote the series.
The mainstream Silverstone coverage was dominated by interviews with the likes of Davidson and Mansell, whatsmore the drivers want a title so I can't see any downside. |

It downgrades the other titles.
