MGs at Rockingham
Those of us fortunate to be at Rockingham today witnessed some superb and extremely close racing in glorious sunshine. Although not a large prgramme the day was well organised and run. Well done to the MG Car Club for yet another great days club racing.

I'm sure it was, just such a shame that it clashed with equally interesting meetings @ Silverstone, Donington & Mallory.

We appologise for our laid back, but very enjoyable, meeting today and that the numbers of entries were not up to our usual standard. But as Clive said, some excellent racing, and very entertaining it was too. Rolling starts at Rockingham always have a bit of drama attached. i.e. the Total Butler race - to chicane or not to chicane on the first lap!!!!!
As usual the MG Car Club, competitors, and my grateful thanks go to all who were there today, your stirling efforts were certainly appreciated. Once again a good job well done by all in some very nice sunshine. Hope to see many of you at our next Meeting at Snetterton on June 12th. Take care, John Watson Chief Marshal MG Car Club |

Well done MGCC.
See you at Snetterton for the next one. PS I ate the pork pie before the Metro race. Delayed action or what? |

Sorry John I am sure you had your usual great support, but we cant be in more than one place? There was also a full weekend of racing at Brands and the camping facilities are a little better there than Rockingham.

Well john I have to disagree with Gridlock my camping area at Rockingham this weekend was prefect , well also most just had to share it with some drivers . But other than that no problems. |

My thanks to all the marshals as well, had a very enjoyable if rather fraught day! We will be rather spread out by the time we get to you on the start line Alan, as we were firmly told at our briefing the race starts when the lights change and NOT when you cross the line.
See you all again at Snetterton. |

Hi Andrew.
I assume you were in your caravan? Unless its greatly improved I doubt that you were on their excuse for a camp site? |

I'd just like to say thanks to all the marshals who turned out at Rockingham yesterday. I had a great day .
Apologies for the lack of any waving at the end by the way. I was rather annoyed when our race got cut short halfway through and didn't remember to wave See you all next time Mik |

(For those that don't know Rockingham (and you should all visit soon - prefereably this weekend for the BMW festival) the lights go out before the line because by the time you get to the painted chequered line it's too late and you can't see the lights unless you are looking up at the gantry rather than the wide oval turn one you're heading towards, and that gentle impact that won't be waiting for you if you turn right) Al. |

OUR FIRST TIME FOR MGCC, WE BOTH WERE VERY IMPRESSED, A VERY ENJOYABLE DAY WAS HAD. WERE BOTH REGULARS AT THE ROCK, AND THOUGHT WHY NOT, I THINK SOMEONE SPLIT THE FAMILY PACK OF PORK PIES OUT AND PASSED THEM OUT..... LOTS OF GOOD CLOSE RACING WITH A FEW CLOSE CALLS. WE DID SEE A FEW OVERSHOOTING FROM THE OVAL TO THE INFIELD... DID ANYONE GET THE LAP TIME FOR THE OVAL
WERE LOOKING TO HAVE A FEW MORE MEETINGS WITH YOU BOYS... AND ARE SCOUTING THE DIARY TO JOIN YOU AT OTHER CIRCUITS... THANKYOU AND WELL DONE |

I really enjoyed a nice easy day in Parc Ferme. So nice to be involved at a race meeting again, especially where the other marshals are looking after me as I fight yet another virus! Thanks to both of them, I really must learn people's names.
Mike, thank you very much being so considerate not to win and take second instead - I really wasn't fit enough to do the customary 'We are not worthy' winners salute, but hopefully normal service will be resumed at Snetterton! |
