Audi S1 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
BRC/BTRDA Rallycross Blyton Sept 12th

I know its not long since we had our last rallycross fix but the next ones nearly upon us.

Round 7 of the BRC and round 8 of the BTRDA Championships take place at the Blyton Circuit on September 12th.

So..... Who's going? Racing? Watching? Marshalling?

Lets hope for another strong entry and accident free day!

Would guess entry list should be posted Mon or Tues next week.

Thanks for that GM.

Thats three on the trot for Doran now, isn't it? That must put him in a pretty good position for the Championship title now?

Tough break for Steve Hill as well. Really hope he gets a break soon, as he seems to have had more than his fair share of bad luck with the new car this year.

Ash Simpson won in the Exige?! I know he a fantastic driver but didnt expect to see that car beat Godfrey, as it looked down on power at Lydden. Great effort.

I stand corrected, Pat is not in a good position to win the title - he has already won it! Congrats to him!

Full event report E-mail as follows:

Pat Doran secured the British title in the penultimate round of the series.

Pat Doran (Winkleigh) put the finishing touches to the successful defence of his Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship at Blyton on Sunday (September 12) where he took his third consecutive event win of the year and put the title beyond the reach of his rivals with one round of the eight event series still to run.

"I didn't expect to keep the title this year because the British championship has been very competitive; there were five different winners in the first five events," said Doran who attributed his success to his car and team, "I won it through consistency and reliability, Graham [Rodemark, his engineer] did a great job of preparing the car and it has been 100% reliable, all I had to do was sit in it a drive!"

Doran's third event win of the year came in a solid performance during which he set fastest times in each of the first two heats and won the Supercar A final before leading the re-started Superfinal from pole.

The Superfinal had been halted at the end of the first lap when Steve Hill (Aylsbury) went off and rolled his Mitsubishi Lancer E9, Hill unhurt in the accident during which technical problems dogged his new E10 Lancer, eventually forcing him to revert to the older car which was heavily damaged in the crash.
Round two winner Andy Scott led the chase of Doran before David Binks (Newcastle upon Tyne) the winner in round four, passed and went on to finish second to Doran.

Ash Simpson (York) enjoyed a great run in only his second event of the year in the championship, gaining his first British championship win in the SuperModified class and then going on to place fifth in the Superfinal with his Lotus Exige.

Full class reports will appear on Rallycrossuk.com later

Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship, round seven, Blyton, September 12
Superfinal (6 laps) 1 Pat Doran (Ford Fiesta ST ERC) 3m27.725s; 2 David Binks (Ford Fiesta ST ERC) + 6.6s; 3 Andy Scott (Peugeot 306 4x4 turbo); 4 Gareth Wood (Subaru Impreza); 5 Ash Simpson (Lotus Exige); 6 Nick Priddy (Vauxhall Tigra); 7 Julian Godfrey (Ford Fiesta); 8 Steve Cozens (Renault ClioSport V6).

Championship 1 Doran 181; 2 Grant 154; 3 Scott 136; 4 Binks 134; 5 Godfrey 125; 6 Mike Howlin 104
Next event: Pembrey, October 10

As has already been said, a great result for Simpson as well. Its great to see an Exige back in British Rallycross again, and even better to see the car getting good results.

post 2 was not the quietest of posts this weekend it was a shame to witness that many cars damaged - but when right on the limits of control and looking for that extra little bit incidents are gonna happen, after all thats what we are there for, but it doesnt mean we enjoy tidying up :P The cars seemed much quicker than in June for the night race which must speek volues for the track condition.

I must express my thans to the guys on 2 for their hard work and their quick incident handling.

A small sugestion is it possible in future that dummy grid have a seperate radio channel as there were a few occassions yesterday when circuit marshals could not get through to make reports.

great day looking forward to the next days rallycross at Blyton
