Ice Factory

I hear a rumour that there is an Ice Factory somewhere in the Le Mans area! Does anyone know where it is?

Ice Factory

Wish I was going to LM this year. Happy memories of a hot race in 1990 or so. Beer inside the circuit was expensive, so a crowd decided to buy at 1/6th the price at the local Carrefour. We bought as much beer as one could fit in, on, and around a shopping trolley, then sweltering team member commented that it was going to be too warm to drink when we got back to the track. I was sent back to obtain ice by fair means or foul, and arrived back ten minutes later with two shopping bags full of ice. Previously mentioned sweltering team member decided that he was going to use one bag full of ice to chill himself down, and rapidly applied contents of his bag to his sweating body. After the ice satisfyingly cooled him down, he noticed a none too appealing aroma. "where did you get the ice?" he asked. "From the fishmonger", I replied. He immediately understood that he was not going to get the chance for thorough ablutions before he went home, and simply asked, "How am I going to explain the smell to my wife?"

strange no one ever thought about it
I'd be one of their client, sure

In general, local people have no idea making business with the race.

There's a lot of money to do but they don't have the idea and the courage to do it.

You say that they are not interested in making money at Le Mans well the day at the British GT Championship (Silverstone) was intesting. We arrived at the circuit on Sunday and waved 1 season ticket so we drove in and into the circuit (3 of us had no tickets) we parked just by the pits and I am sure I could have got in there as well.
Then on sunday night down the pub I got offered two more tickets in exchange for a pint. So on Monday we drove up the same way and got let inside the circuit again despite all the other spectators having to park outside the circuit. Then the icing on the cake I still had not managed to get a program untill we saw two very attractive girls who made no effort to charge me for the program despite me having the exact change in my hand!!

So for four of us the weekend was 4.80GBP.

I said "local people" in general, I didn't mean ACO !!!

BTW LM is twice cheaper than French or Monaco F1 GP...

Thanks for the welcome, Fab. I miss my annual visits to LM, but I'll make a big effort to go next year. Do they still have the Moet "tent" in the village? The place used to be a welcome change from the bars, and it was always entertaining to see the scams people used to get in and drink excesses of free champagne. Essential items in the toolkit for LM were a scalpel and superglue so wristbands could be removed, taken outside for the next blagger to put on, and so on, until everyone was in or the champagne had run out. Of course, I didn't indulge in such dishonesty! The Martini enclosure many years ago was also a good place for free drinks, but they got serious about security!
