ALMS Rnd 9: Petit Le Mans 29 Sep-1 Oct 2005
The Petit Le Mans Race Weekend is underway and there are cars on track as we speak. There has been a red flag as the #57 Aston and the #27 Horag Lista Lola have got together, in the words of Hindy on Globlecast the Aston looks a bit 2nd hand.

I'm looking forward to this weekend. There are number of interesting and exciting battles to look forward to in both qualifying and the race.

It sounds like the Horag Lista Lola has a hole in the tub and the Aston might not run again till Friday.

A hole in the tub probably cannot be fixed there....
Thus, they are probably done for the weekend.... |

Too bad, was looking forward to them being there and wanted to see what they could do against Intersport, which continues to stupify with speed. I really wish the Porsche could have been there, as I wanted to see how they would match up.
I hope Autocon makes it to the end and has a trouble free top six run at the end. |

I have just seen some pictures of the Aston, it a bit of a mess. As for the Zytek it is reported pm DSC that sprung an oil leak, and consequently a small pit fire before it could set a time.

I heard that the Zytek had an oil leak issue . The Aston is fixable . It was filling up with smoke when the accident happened and Kane was on the radio to the pits as it happened .
Expensive weekend for Horag !!! |

Have just received the low-down on the Zytek issue.
They decided to put in the engine that was used for Mid Ohio just for testing (they thought it had a couple more hours in it). Unfortunatly this was not the case and it was leaking oil, consequently the engine has been removed and a brand new one installed for today's action, which will then be replaced by again for the race ( i think). They expect some very fast times today, rumours are that Shimoda is talking about sub 1.11.5............... |

It's tight at the top after this morning's practice. Both Dyson's, Champion's and the Zytek in the 1:12's with Intersport just over a second behind. Makes you wonder if the Spyder might also have been in the 1:12's!!

Tune in for the Qualifying this afternoon....
The top Five are separated by less than half of a second.... It will be a great shootout for the Pole...Overall, GT1 and GT2... I just hope Hindy doesn't have a stroke from the excitement |

And less than one tenth of a second between the 20 Dyson, 15 Zytek and 1 Champion!! You're right, Tim, qualifying should be a hoot!!
GT1: Two tenths between the top four, Acemco Saleen quickest from 4 Corvette, the Maserati and 58 Aston!! Last edited by Bentley03; 30 Sep 2005 at 15:32. Reason: Just noticed GT1 times! |

Has anyone got any pictures of the Zytek shunt that happened at the end of the last session. From what i heard Shimoda was pushed onto the grash by a GT2 Porsche and then (like they havent had enough bad luck already!) a Lola locked up and spun into him under yellow flags (Shimoda was still stationary on the grass) . Sounds like the damage was quite heavy, not sure if it will be ready for qualifying..........
