I watched the great speedvision coverage on the Texas event, and 'saw' two things that nothing was done about. 1. the Beila Audi had loose body work that could have led to very bad consequences, yet no black flag or call-in. 2. On the number 1's final pit stop a pit crew member was touching something inside the right front while refueling and an ALMS official chased him away, yet no penalty. Both of these inactions were significant on the final outcome of the race. Was I just 'seeing' things, plain wrong, or did someone get away with something?

I can't answer about the bodywork other than it was probably deemed as being secure enough by the stewards.
The guy chased away in their final pit stop was a Michelin tire tech getting temps and it was a Joest crewman getting him out of the way when it was decided that there would be no tire change. Bob |
