PoweredByHonda should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Supertec Engines

This might be a stupid question but who makes them and why do they suck so much?
They don't appear to be works engines or anything. I remember when Renault pulled out Williams had to use supertecs and so did BAR in 99 when both teams didn't have engine suppliers.

Supertech I think is owed by Flavio Briatore.

Its a tuning house just like Mugen or Cosworth.
Renault supplied them with the basic block and then the tuning house would alter the engine by adding better small parts like pistons and such.

Are you sure about that Niall?

I thought Supertec just was the company that sells the engines.

For as far as I know they were being build by Mecachrome. That is the same company who build the engines when they were still badged Renault.

I'm fairly sure. Not too much though.

If mechachrome made Renault's engine why were they lacking developement so much under the name of Supertech ?

The Supertec and Megachrome Engines are old Renaults. As Niall has mentioned they are independant firms setting these engines up as best they can given the olf technology. Asiatech is now setting up Peugeot engines while financed by a finacial institution in Asia, i.e. Asisatech while run out of France.

Why these engines lack the horsepower and reliabillity of the works outfite just exempifies the budgets, resources and the speed of technical development within this area.
