That is close.
I really wish that this was shown live here in Canada, but oh well, it gives us something to watch at the end of the season. It's like having racing for 12 months a year. I'd like to see Bruno do well. He always sems to do well in practice and qualifying, but falls off during the race. Should be a great race! |

I have an idea...
Can we have ALL the DTM races at the Norisring? That was incredible! Fantastic performance by Gary... A race of full of great strategy (Paffett, Fassler, Abt), bad strategy (Kristensen), great driving (Paffett, Kristensen, Margaritas), awful driving (Schneider, Reuter, Green, Spengler), and incident! |

WOW! what a great race.Thats the first time i have watched a DTM race from start to finish, i couldn't take my eyes off it for a minute. If only F1 was that exciting.I can see why 150,000 people turned up for that, awesome! Well done Gary Paffett.

Looks like there's clearly an Abt/Ekstrom issue.
Obviously Abt should have let him through earlier, if he had, he would have got that 2nd. Mercedes owe Opel somewhat for this race! |

I'm sure Audi & Hans-Jurgen would disagree of course Abt does drive the Joest outfit obviously, but he gave away that race to Paffett anyway - might aswell have given the other position to his manufacturers leader... Margatitas played the team game, and he doesn't drive for HWA. |

Great race. No, a fabulous race!
And yesterday was the DTM Masters apparently! Not even Kirbys woeful performance could spoil this! |

although the mistakes he made sometimes were pretty bad. |

Mike - I don't think he loves the sport at all.
Laughing all the time, cheering crashes - these are not the actions of a professional, nor someone who loves the sport. He knows very little about motor-racing. |

Does either lap charts or lap statistics for DTM races exist?

He might not be the best commentator, He may make silly mistakes, Ive never heard him cheering on crashes, He may have said things along the lines of "X driver may punt of Y driver If Y driver doesnt get out of the way" But thats completley diffrent to cheering on a crash. |

He cheered yesterday when Reuter and Ekstrom had their crash.
He was loving that. |

He's not a bad commentator, all things told, but he does let some of his passions get in the way of his impartiality - supporting the British drivers, and Gary Paffett in particular, tends to give him schadenfreude when drivers like Ekstrom and Reuter have a coming together, as they're obviously Paffett's rivals.
He does know quite a lot about the DTM though, which is what he tends to focus on these days. I can't believe I've defended Carlton, but there you go Actually, one thing that does irritate me is his 'Clarkson-ism' where the note of his voice goes really deep, and there's a big pause....... towards the end of the sentence. (just imagine Clarkson saying that last line, if you know what I mean) |

Shouldnt a commentator be quite objective and not support any special driver?
Well anyhow, lets not drift too far from the subject. |

I just got back from a trip to german to watch this race (2nd year in a row ive been there) and i gota say, there is no motor racing event in the world that compares to Norisring DTM round.
We were able to walk freely around the paddock on the friday evening and watch as the mechanics stripped the cars down, they even chatted to us to answer questions on the cars. The track itself is breathtaking, a sesssion watching DTM or even single seaters exiting the S kurve is an experience...as they get ever closer to the outside wall until the inevitable happens... The fact that the bump on the exit of the curve is actually the central reservation of the road only adds character ;-) You can also sit and h ave a meal and a beer in the bar/restraunt which is located less than 10 metres from the track at the entrance to the last corner. All whilst DTM cars whilstle past you as you eat/drink. The camping is different class, great atmosphere and even as late arrivals for the weekend we were able to camp withing 10 metres of the trackside. Which makes for an interesting alarm in the morning..... The history of the site is something to behold, when you see the shots from the air of the old building which encircle the paddock and the pit straight it amazes. As for the best grandstand in the world... welll... http://www.aubh47.dsl.pipex.com/P1010685.JPG |
