Carl Breese to Halfords
According to todays motorsport news, Carl Breese last years Formula Renault champ, is to drive a third car for team Halfords from now on. The deal is to be confirmed in the next week or so, and Carl should be out on track at Thruxton.
The deal is subject to final confirmation, but Carl's manager is the owner of VLR backers VIP club. |

I was about to ask the whereabouts of our reigning FRenault champion, we have the answer.
A good move for Carl I think. As long as it isn't another Matt Neal senario. |

By my calculations that now makes 32 cars in touring and production combined...will they have to split the races again? I don't know the grid limit for Thruxton, but when they get to Knockhill there'll be trouble!

For any circuit that can't handle a full grid, I know that Rockingham and Castle Combe can (demonstarted by powertour last year), so if Knockers, can't keep demand, I think that some of the rumours that I've heard of it's demise maybe true.

Why don't they just leave out the slowest Tourer and the slowest Production car if they run out of space?

Might be a bit risky if it's a tourer - in a few years time, it's almost bound to be a privateer car, and I doubt a sponsor is going to be overly keen to stump up sponsorship for a car if it struggles to even make the race. Probably wouldn't find favour amongst the teams.
BUT! It's great to see another driver. Last edited by Markules; 25 Apr 2002 at 12:56. |

Yeh Reido Rules, I don't like the sound of demise and Knockhill. Good to see that 3rd Pug out there, picture of him in Autosport today, wearing Team Halfords gear.

They aren't wide open rumours, they'r paddock talk I've been hearing. But I suspect it's likely to be there, it all depends on whether ITV are willing to cover two separate races or not.

They don't bother showing Proddies right now anyway, don't see seperate Proddie and Tourer races affecting it that much.

Hmmm this sounds interesting. Hopefully Carl will be able to have some good races this year. By the way is this a full year deal?

He has been entered from Silverstone onwards although at circuits where 30 cars or less can race he will be a reserve.
I believe he has been issued with number 23 Last edited by BTC-P fan; 26 Apr 2002 at 21:44. |

Good to see Shedden back out, very underated, deserved a crack at the big time! As with Breeze, this kid is a star! Look at the drivers that he beaten over the years: Kimi Raikkonen (Haywood team-mate) Richard Antinucci Danny Watts Richard Lyons Tom Sisley BTCC has a new star in the making, shame he couldn`t raise the funding to go to Carlin or Manor in F3, would be a race winner for sure. Heard news from Swindon Engines that his Motaworld Ford engine was slowest of the 3 behind Dalhgren and Sisley. Only had about 50 laps in all prior testing compared to sisley getting around 350. He was only a few 1000ths sec behind him in testing whereas when Gary Parfett tested he was a full 1 second off Sisley at Brands GP test. See some people slagging off Breeze that he was outpaced by Sisley but with that amount of laps what do you expect. Just have to look at last season in Renault, Breeze kicked his butt and also the fact that I have heard that Alan Waite (team boss Motaworld)is the personal Manager of Sisley! Suss hey? |

Thompson! He will only have 1 test day at Snett b4 Silverstone, his 1st drive in the Pug. I reckon when he gets up to speed he will give his team mates Harvey and Eaves abit of a headache? What do you think? |

Do you think Carl could be a wanted man within the BTCC next year if he performs like I think he will? |

yep if he performs well, I'd think he'd get a seat in 2003 as well. BTCC must be popular with drivers coming up through the ranks now as no doubt we will see manufacturers joining in and looking for talent.

I just hope that Carl doesn't get the same treatment as Neal did last year for budget reasons.

I'm sure "Arsenal" will correct any error, but I thought Carl was managed by Jerry Mahony, who is a major backer of VLM, and a business partner of Vic Lee. It raise a possibility that perhaps Vic's comments are not totally "unbiased & independent".
