Does the perfect track day exist!!!???
I've been working on my Golf for a few weeks now. I'ts nearly ready for it's first outing. I've been checking out web pages magazines and phoning race circuits trying to find a day out.
I live in Berkshire and don't mind a bit of trailoring around but the thought of a (now think budget) 4-5 hour drive prior to tracking isn't that appealing. It's not that I'm not keen cuase I am. What I'm hoping for is a nearish' day to me that wont break the bank at Montecarlo. Am I being too fussy? Is there somewhere not at the other end of the country? Will it be in March or April? You can check all the web sites you like but hope to find one on a day when you are off work (shift worker!) or when you can actually make it and LUCKY springs to mind. Does anyone have any tips or hints to finding the grail? Frap my bendy gear shift it must be there somewhere????? HELP! |

There is a few not too far from you. If you want an airfield try Hullavington, in Wiltshire/ Oxfordshire I think. As far as race tracks go what about Thruxton, Silverstone, Castle Combe or Bedford?
Enjoy it, wherever you go! Mark. |

Pootles, I know a few people that live in that part of the world and it doesn't take them long to pop up the M1 to do a day at Donington .

Hi Pootles
you have got to go to the spring action day at Castle Combe (used to be the CCC track day) on Sat 23rd April - This one and the Summer action day later in the year are very very popular, you will not disapointed |

I did one of these days about 4-5 years back and vowed never to return. There is no track etiquette to speak of and little in the way of rules. It may have changed, but from what I have heard, not much! Much better bet is to book a proper trackday with one of the main organisors. I would definatly recommend a day at Bedford, very safe circuit and lots of fun (4mile laps ). Main organisers there are EasyTrack and RMA. |
