ffracer should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Pre 90 or Pre 89?

Having just read the CFFR Pre'90 regulations from the BARC web site, I confess I am confused

Regarding eligibility the Regs say:

General Description:
The 2012 CFFR PRE ‘90 FF SERIES is for Competitors participating in Formula Ford 1600 Single Seat Racing cars::
Built before January 1st 1989

So I read this as Pre'89? Or am I having a senior moment here?

youngoldy has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I think there maybe a missprint in the regs.

In the pilot series last year, Loebell entered the Oulton round in his 89VD, so I would presume it is meant to read 'Built before January 1st 1990'.

It is Pre 1st Jan 1990 and so all 1989 cars are eligible.

Classic FF1600/FF2000 have a stand at Race Retro next weekend if anyone wants to know more about the series.

(Ben Mitchell also won at our Mallory Pre90 round in an RF89)

Well - the Regulations published on the BARC website say "The 2012 CFFR PRE ‘90 FF SERIES is for Competitors participating in Formula Ford 1600 Single Seat Racing cars built before January 1st 1989". As I read it this is Pre '89.

You don't have to take my word for it. The Regulations are published in pdf format on http://www.barc.net/images/stories/p...F1600_REGS.pdf

The relevant wording is Section 5.2 on Page 9 of the Regulations

If the intention is to allow Pre '90 cars then a change to the Regulations will be required, provided the MSA will permit this.

Incidentally I also note these regulations allow +0.02 rebore on an FF1600 engine. I was surprised to see this as it has been phased out of Classic FF1600 Regulations, and of course isn't legal for mainstream FF1600 engines.

You are quite right - which is why early this morning after seeing this topic I informed the Coordinator of the series and our Pre 90 Rep that the BARC (not our Classic FF1600 Club - we do not write these documents) had got it wrong and we needed the corrections sorted out ASAP.

This series allows all Pre 90 FF1600's - just like it did last year when two different RF89's (John Loebell and Ben Mitchell) won races.

(After my FA73 the RF89 is my favourite FF1600)

So it turns out it wasn't me having a senior moment then, Peter. I was worried for a while.

I should also point out that although I do Co-ordinate the Monoposto and the F3 Cup Championships, my query at the start of this thread arose from purely personal confusion. As I guess you know, I race an FF1600 myself (unfortunately not in the Mono Championship, because of my Co-ordinator role) and so I like to keep up with what's going on in the FF1600 world.

And Peter's correct - Monoposto is running a New Drivers Seminar at Race Retro - Sunday, 1.00pm in the Avon 2 Lounge. All Welcome!

All new drivers should attend

Simon

Good to talk as always and the pint stands . Shame you cant pop over and do one of our rounds .
Pre 90 has had a great response .We have work closely with the BRSCC to avoid clashes. The Pre82 has gone through the roof its good to see so many cars being recommissioned, remember RSM motorsport off a package to Classic members to help get your car on the track .

I think the seminar is a brilliant idea and hope it works .

See you all over the weekend

Peter

All Pre 90's are now included and no overboring of engines is allowed any more.
