Mosley and Whiting flee Britain!
OK a slight exageration!
However due to the new EU laws that bypass extradiation laws Max and Charlie are playing it safe and moving to Monaco. (the new laws have only been taken up by a handful of EU countries (UK one of them) at the moment). This is from an article in The Times (1/3/04). I suppose it is a valid point. If team bosses can be prosecuted then why not the people who run the sport and technical matters of F1. |

Such madness!...in a so called 'free country' so much for our fathers (your grandfathers) fighting for our freedoms (WW2) which seem to be restricted every month these days! Perhaps we need another war!...To make these bureaucrats and politicians go back to basics.

Although a somewhat amusing story, (Monaco what a 'place' to be stuck with.....shame..)the motive behind the move is a potentially serious issue and yet another nail in the coffin of European venues fighting to stay on the F1 calendar.
It's alarming really, that Max, and more so Bernie E, have made no secret of the difference between F1 and Europe, yet the EU beaurocrats keep giving them more ammunition. I'm sure some of the team bosses are looking at the issue seriously as well. Noticably the UK seem to sign up for everything, and end up in a minority as a result. |

This is a real problem. When the team bosses realise how worried Mosley and Whiting are, I wouldn't be surprised if a few teams up sticks too.
What a disgrace this whole situation is. I wouldn't be surprised if Gordon Brown helped them make their decision with his friends at the Inland Revenue. |

Can any of you know-it-alls tell me if Charlie Whiting is the brother of the late Nick Whiting who ran a very fast yellow BDA Ford Escort Super Saloon in the mid 70's under the banner of his business All Car Equipe?

Nick came to a very sad end. But I remember the Escort. |

In Alan Henry's book "The Powerbrokers" there is a quote from Charlie which mentions his brother Nick. First time I knew this. Small world around Biggin Hill isn't it? |

Moseley has fleed, the teams will follow...
If things continue the way they are, F1 will completely move out of UK in ten years. There might not even be a british GP anymore. I feel sorry for the british motorsport fans.... |

Are they being chased out of the country by Patrick Head and Pierre Dupasquier?

It won't stop at the UK. European races as a whole will stop if the situation remains the same. Bernie is already chasing the 'new money' by looking at Bahrain, China and Russia. If you analyse it closely, he is looking at every emerging market, and using F1 as a platform to boost their rise in world markets. This problem will only accelerate the rush to desert Europe for where the real money is these days.

I read a quote in the paper today that Bernie says the teams can't survive without the tobacco money. not even ferrari.
Despite the fact half of the grid currently doesn't have any fag sponsorship. Hmmm.... |

I believe this is so I think Charlie has worked (and in this instance I mean in the Hard Work sense)his way up the Ecclestone Empire from humble beginings as a mechanic with the Brabham Team. |

You'd have to think that F1 must be on borrowed time in Europe although there are worse places for Max & Charlie to have to run to than Monaco.
