The point of 250cc
I understand why 125cc exists(scooter manufacturers competition plus Honda and it has the best racing in the entire motorsport), MotoGP I don't contest, but the 250 class I really find it useless. Could someone enlighten me why it even exists?

To be honest, I can't explain it either. And frankly in the past two years the racing has been rather ordinary.

I like the 125-250-500 (well, MotoGP...) format with all those races and the variety it introduces in the sport.
I think the last two years (2000 and 2001) there were pretty good races with Kato, Nakano, etc, and we can't forget the great years of Kocinsky, Spencer, etc, not to speak of the classic 250 racers. What I'm afraid of is about Moto FIM becoming a F1-like sport, with just one big category and maybe others "supporter" races, and, of course, the big category becoming a realm of work teams, with wins decided by the bike, not by means of heroic perfomances. |

How they should be, if they all change to four-strokes?
250cc-500cc-990cc (MotoGP)? |

No way can they abandon the 125cc category. It provides the best racing of all 3 categories.

It sure does. There needs to be a class definatly in between 125cc and MotoGP, although it seems that the trend now will be for Superbike riders to go to MotoGP, due to their 4 stroke experience, kinda lowering the importance of of the 2 stroke classes.
Wasn't there a rumour doing the rounds a while back about a prototype 600cc 4 stroke class coming and replacing 125s and 250s. If that were to happen that they really would seem like Dorna wanted to get rid of the Octagon Championships! |

yeah i heard that GP2 or something.. I certainly hope not.
Personally I really like the 250cc class.. its my favourite! I dont think using F1 as a model for motogp is teh way to go. F1=boring |

Ah, asha, how correct you are about F1=boring!
I hope they don't get rid of the 125s and 250s. They have been a mainstay for 54 years. |
