Sportscar/Endurance Racing entries/rumours that never came to be
Starting with the Norma M6 that entered the 1990 Le Mans 24 Hours but never got to attempt to qualify as its MGN W12 engine never fired up.

The Peugeot 905 Evo 2 Supercopter that would have raced in 1993 if the World Sportscar Championship hadn't been cancelled.
Also the 2012 Peugeot 908 Hybrid4 intended for the WSC's successor, the World Endurance Championship. |

Carlos Sainz was slated to drive the Brun Motorsport Porsche 962C alongside Oscar Larrauri and Jesus Pareja in the 1989 Le Mans 24 Hours. He also could have been in the Toyota GT-One eventually driven by Thierry Boutsen, Ralf Kelleners and Geoff Lees in the 1998 Le Mans, his WRC commitments scuppered that.

Of course Steve McQueen was going to take part in the 1970 Le Mans in a Porsche shared with JYS, for filming for his movie. But his insurance people wouldn't let him

The late Bob Wollek was due to contest the 2001 Sebring 12 Hours in the Petersen Motorsports Porsche 996 GT3-RS with Johnny Mowlem and Michael Petersen. The car was withdrawn out of respect.

Roland Ratzenberger would have shared a Toyota 94C-V with Mauro Martini and Jeff Krosnoff in the 1994 Le Mans 24 Hours. Eddie Irvine took his place.

Nick Yelloly was on the verge of replacing Harry Tincknell in the Jota Sport Gibson 015S alongside Filipe Albuquerque and Simon Dolan for the 2015 European Le Mans Series and there was a plan for Yelloly to do Le Mans as part of the deal. A loss of funding meant the deal fell through and Tincknell retained his seat.

Alonso was linked to the Porsche seat in 2015, that went to Hulkenberg. Alonso was very keen for that to happen

The 1993 World Sportscar Championship was cancelled due to lack of entries.
Also, the Porsche LMP2000. |

When Mika Salo moved to 1990 Japan F3000, he also had plans for a Group C (JSPC) races at Mazda, but they did not materialize. When Mika was going to test that car, Philippe Favre scrapped it.
Jari Nurminen had signed a contract with Aston Martin for the 1990 World Sportscar Championship, but the sponsor withdrew from the team at the last minute. |

The Audi R9 LMP, intended as a successor to the R8, a mock-up monocoque was produced in 2003 and the prototype would have had the then-present 3.6-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The project eventually evolved into the R10 TDi.
