SJ Spode should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
More WRC rounds each year: good or bad??

Apparently David Richards would like the WRC to expand from the current 14 events to 16 or even 18 events each year.

I know it would allow the ihntroduction of events in Mexico etc., but I don't see the team's going for it. In addition to increased costs the schedule seems pretty full already; you'd end up with one event over Christmas (probably one of the hotter ones)

So is this a good idea or not?

I'd say leave it how it is.

I actually wouldn't mind it going back to how it was in the mid-90s, where the WRC would consist of only 9 or 10 rounds, but the events would be on a rotation, missing out on a WRC round once every three years. This allowed more events to be included in the schedule over the years, and also allowed WRC competitors enough time to compete in other events. As it is now they hardly get an off season, how would it be with 18 events?

The rotation system would make more sense. Have a few of the classic events every year and swap the rest, maybe having 15 events on rotation and running 10 each year to make a schedule of 14. 18 is just too much. Rallying is not like F1, no matte rhow much Dave is trying to emulate it.

I don't like the rotation system. The 1996? RAC was terrible and damaged the image of a so called world class event.

The 18 round system would only be considered in the long term future when the economics are better.

I think there'll be a compromise with 16 rounds with the US and South Africa joining.
