I have to say, and hate to admit it, but I was rather impressed by James '2 Stop Strategy' Allen's stint in the commentary box during qualifying. He kept on top of things, was highly informative, and took a genuine interest in ALL the teams.
Perhaps the race without Murray won't be so bad after all??? |

I thought he was good to, much better job then i expected. But it just felt different without Murrey, although I am looking forward to watching the race with James. It should be interesting with his technical expierience.

Durring some parts it was like he was interviewing Martin, asking him about what a driver thnks and does, which was cool.

I didn't care for James Allen. I vote we get Louise Goodman in the box next time. That will let Johnny Herbert go cry in peace when his Jag lets him down again.

Well you'd better get used to other commentators because Murray's 76! He is well beyond retiremant age. The one great thing about him is that he as seen every race since 1949!

I'm a big Murray Walker Fan! His knowledge and enthusiasm is unmatched, but it is a sad fact that he won't go on for ever! I seem to remember that he only signs 1 year contracts now so that he can give up when he wants.
James Allen did a super job calm, knowledgeable, and informative. Indeed it was often Martin that was getting excited... If JA is being groomed to succeed Murray, then I think it is a good choice. |

I vote for a fresh face ... someone like Delia Smith.
She could give us a few recipes during the boring bits. I wonder how much motor racing commentary we'd be left with ? I'm guessing we'd all be great cooks. |

skidmark, I'm with you too. Delia did some great choclate dessert recipes here on Australian TV this week, if we can combine her with a barman to suggest cocktail recipes GP motor racing would be complete.
Seriously I though James did a great job, but it was a bit disappointing to have no commentary to correct during the broadcast. |

Just think! Delia can give tips on cooking your Sunday lunch whilst you are preparing it whilst watching the race. Man, this idea is the best.
