Who cares in all honesty

THe American series has spectacularly rained on its own parade and contributed to its own downfall.

I for one dont really care what happens, they bhad a perfectly decent series and through their messing around have lost manufacturers and riders.

Its their own fault (the organisers) and they deserve to lose all credibility as a result.

its not that i care, but i was interested in finding out what the difference was thats why i asked the question - and i agree the ama series was rocking, but has become a bit farcical over the last 5 or 6 years

american honda have withdrawn due to the global eco blah blah...

Yep, American Honda is done. The Erion and Corona teams will carry on in their absence. Apparently, Hodgson may ride for one of them. Not official though. It is not known what Kawasaki or Suzuki are doing. Yamaha is on board.

Daytona Sportbike is Formula Xtreme light. Similar, but toned down to keep with the cost cutting privateer friendly theme. However, it has a power to weight ratio rule. So, it allows a wide range of bikes including 600's, the Triumph triple, Aprilia, Buell, Ducati, etc.

The supersport class is more stock/production based than the former supersport rules. Plus it limits riders to 25 and younger. Also, no rider can compete more than three years, or something like that.

To be honest, I've lost interest and have only read the information in passing.

My national series sucks.

Nothing to it beyond a press release. It was just a bargaining chip.

Mat was signed for this year. Suzuki isn't going racing in the MIC series because it doesn't exit, and probably isn't going to exist, even though Mel Harris is looking for a job there when he retires.

I think that when this is done, we'll have a much better series. The idea behind DMG is that everyone has a chance to win. The day of special parts, special tires, special fuel, etc., are gone. The factories didn't like that. They had $150 gallon gas, special parts which although listed were never available, special tires that looked the same, but had different construction, etc.

Those days are gone. Now, if you've got the money and talent, you can have a decent chance of winning. No more, it's my club, and we'll win. Just remember that Yosh won every race for the last how many years? Some of that may have been riders, but some of that was their special vehicles.

This is going to be better, but it will be ugly for the 1st few years.

Don't wanna be devil's advocate, but look out for Mat, he's one of three maybe four best riders in the world with or without electronic wizz', I may be wrong, but those rules may suit him even better than previous, and he'll the world again, just because of pure speed of his. I hope I am wrong, I hope fr good championship next year, but I have my doubts regarding Suzuki and Mats participation in it.

He's riding for Yosh next year. You can make book on it. Yosh will also get Blake Young if things go as I suspect they will between Hammer and Suzuki.

Deal is done, Blake will go to Yosh for next year. Watch for him to give Mat all he can handle.

Teams choose their bike numbers btw. Not up to riders, so don't expect Ben on #155 Yamaha.

Miguel has no ride as of yet. And no other riders have been announced for the Corona Honda team. They have been a one bike team and I'm guessing they will stay that way.

Tuesday test times from Fontana:

1. Tommy Hayden (Suz GSX-R1000), American Superbike, 1:24.3
2. Neil Hodgson (Hon CBR1000RR), American Superbike, 1:25.0
3. Mat Mladin (Suz GSX-R1000), American Superbike, 1:25.3
4. Ben Bostrom (Yam YZF-R1), American Superbike, 1:25.64
5. Larry Pegram (Duc 1098R), American Superbike, 1:25.68
6. Blake Young (Suz GSX-R1000), American Superbike, 1:25.78
7. Josh Hayes (Yam YZF-R1), American Superbike, 1:26.5
8. Jake Zemke (Hon CBR600RR), Daytona SportBike, 1:29.3
9. Jamie Hacking (Kaw ZX-6R), Daytona SportBike, 1:29.4
10. Josh Herrin (Yam YZF-R6), Daytona SportBike, 1:29.7
11. Tommy Aquino (Yam YZF-R6), Daytona SportBike, 1:29.9
12. Chris Peris (Hon CBR600RR), Daytona SportBike, 1:30.2
13. Roger Hayden (Kaw ZX-6R), Daytona SportBike, 1:31.7

Hacking and Zemke on Supersport bikes, what a waste of space, get'em to SBK!
And, last but not least, wonder if Blake is the odd Yoshimura rider this year?

Any reason for this? Could Yamaha not chose #155 for Ben?

Are the race formats the same for Superbike this year, one on Saturday & one on Sunday (bar Daytona and MotoGP)?

I think Yamaha are running 3 and 6 this year. That is why Mladin will be running #7. If I can find the link to that story, I'll post it.

Wednesday Fontana testing times:

1. Neil Hodgson (Hon CBR1000RR), American Superbike, 1:23.9
2. Larry Pegram (Duc 1098R), American Superbike, 1:24.06
3. Ben Bostrom (Yam YZF-R1), American Superbike, 1:25.4
4. Josh Hayes (Yam YZF-R1), American Superbike, 1:25.5
5. Jamie Hacking (Kaw ZX-6R), Daytona SportBike, 1:28.1
6. Ben Bostrom (Yam YZF-R6), Daytona SportBike, 1:28.31
7. Tommy Aquino, Jr, (Yam YZF-R6), Daytona Sportbike, 1:28.63
8. Josh Herrin (Yam YZF-R6), Daytona SportBike, 1:28.78
9. Jake Zemke (Hon CBR600RR), Daytona SportBike, 1:29.0
10. Chris Peris (Hon CBR600RR), Daytona SportBike, 1:29.8
11. Roger Hayden (Kaw ZX-6R), Daytona SportBike, 1:29.9
12. Josh Hayes (Yam YZF-R6), Daytona SportBike, 1:30.0

Suzuki tested alone on Monday, and so did not test on Wednesday.

As for Blake Young, he's fast. But I'm not sure which crew he's working with, which could make a big difference to how successful he is.

Daytona Sportbike has more or less replaced Formula Xtreme.

They will have a Supersport class though. It will be very production based. Riders must be less than 25 years old and I believe there is some kind of experience cap.
