Its more surprising, and dissapointing as well that we don't seen BTCC-competitors. Seat and Vauxhall have some marketingopportunities, as well as the resources to join the WTCC at brands, and the same holds more or less for team RAC and team Halfords, and maybe some other teams with a large sponsorshipdeal. And it seems to me that joining a world championship race is always very interesting from a sporting point of view, as is driving the Brands Hatch GP-loop. In a computergame I experienced lately that it's much more demanding than the indy-loop only.
Yokohama'? I'm sure that at least Seats and the BMW's can get information about setups. And Vauxhall maybe from Chevrolet (both GM)

I think Seat and Vauxhall don't want to take any risks in this stage of the BTCC season and under these circumstances.

The problem may be the budget, though. I don't know how much money teams shell out on a average race-weekend, but I guess it's a medium five digit figure.
As most teams have a fixed budget - that may already be a bit stretched at this point of the season due to accidents, etc. - adding another race may just not be possible from a financial point of view.

Vauxhall have nothing to gain. Their market is the UK, a one-off race in an international series here does nothing for them. SEAT UK again wouldn't gain that much extra as they already piggy-back what marketing they get of the existing SEAT entries.

After the last Brands meeting and having to build a new car, Team Dynamics' budget has taken a severe dent. Jackson and A-Tech have (or had) the right cars but probably not the budget. WSR said they would like to some time back (note "would like to", not "are going to") but that was all dependent on extra budget - nothing more has been said since.

What about GR Asia, either the green (Gavin Smth) Leon (not necessarily with Smith driving) or Adam Jones? Better still, Adam Jones in the green Leon

They have 4 weeks to repair al possible damage. It took team Halfords less to built a complete car i think...

@ Vauxhall An international serie on Britisch ground, spectated by lots of Britisch people, with an international sponsor on the bonnet.

@ Team Dynamics and WSR: that's true. It only would be possible of Halfords, RAC or another sponsor has some pounds to spare.

@GR Asia: They are their anyway. But do they have enough people?

Perhaps, but it took e.g. Audi much longer to rebuild Kristensens car, Maybe they had some spare parts left at Halfords And to rebuild a complete new car for 1 round makes a lot of costs

An international series that sadly gets very little media coverage here. It might work if Vauxhall had a realistic chance of a race win but with no data on Advan tyres that's pretty unlikely. Somehow 'we turned up but got beaten by Johnny Foreigner' doesn't sound like a great PR angle.

They had no problem running an extra car at the last round. Money is likely to be more of an issue than manpower.

I agree redshoes... But what an ideal opportunity to show the cars ability in front of potentional customers?

Not just for the WTCC, but to other National Championships. Badged as Opels obviously!

Good to hear Turkington will be on the grid, will be interesting to see how one of the BTCC front runners compares to the WTCC regulars. He's on home soil so perhaps a podium or even a win might be on the cards with a bit of luck.

Turkington will run as car # 27, he is not classified as an independent.

Tarquini has tested the SEAT TDi at Barcelona with a view to using it at Brands but won't be using it. Only 2 diesels at Brands - Muller and Gene.

Timur Sadredinov will be back in the third GR Asia car (#35) for both Brands and Monza.
