Heated windscreens on BMW S2000 cars?

I have heard something about some BMW S2000 cars there are heated windscreens. Is this true, and what advantage would you even have in having one in the BTCC or WTCC?

The windscreens don't mist up in damp weather, giving the drivers perfect vision for starters.
The in car footage from Brands was the ideal example, where the difference was very noticable.

A little birdie told me though that Ford Motor Company own the rights to that particular piece of technology?
It certainly was the case a few years ago, hence the reason no other manufacturer ever had heated screens on their models.
I may be wrong so please correct me if you know otherwise.

I heard this too (when I was buying a Ford!), but the salesman did say that soon others will have access to it. He did say, but I can't remember why; either this has expired, or Ford have decided to give it up for safety.

However I agree with the reason. I've had problems with steaming windows and it would be a good solution - I've refitted a heated read window before!

The BTCC version probably has little weight penalty and is bloomin' good at letting you see where you are going!
