Le Mans: and the winners are...
My (usually wrong) view about who can get podium in LeMans/Bugatti. This is after the 1st qual session, so some details can go wrong until the races.
MotoGP: Sorry, but I go with the star of current epoch: Rossi. First qualif has not been so bad for him because Checa and Melandri(Yamahas) are well positioned. Also I prefer Gibernau's edge over Biaggi's smooth pace. BTW, I'd be depply surprised if Edwards win or even he getting a podium would be a surprise to me. Guess: Rossi - Gibernau - Biaggi 250cc: Porto's pace has been great in the first two GPs and now in the 1st QS, but he has had bad luck in Welkom and Jerez. He is my favourite for Sunday. De Puniet is so solid and quick, he is my 2nd bet. I put Pedrosa over Rolfo bacause I'm not convinced about Roberto's dry pace. Poggiali could be an alternative. Guess: Porto - Puniet - Pedrosa 125cc: Almost random! I'll go with Dovi, who looks to be in good form. I like Loca too, I hope he will be quicker in dry conditions. Behind them I think I will pick Stoner, virtually winner in Jerez and steady in sessions all the season. Guess: Dovizioso - Locatelli - Stoner I hope it will be dry in races, because otherwise all those guesses are going to be even less reliable than usual |

MotoGP:
May be a little early to say but on the basis of the outcome of the 1st qualifying it looks like the other Honda riders (other, that is, than Sete and Biagggi ) may be in with a chance here. Biaggi, Edwards, Rossi (then Giberneau, Checa and Tamada) 250cc: de Puniet, Porto, Poggiali 125cc: Dovizioso, Barbera, Locatelli |

Well, I was wrong again. Gibernau rode a great race and he was expected to do well, but, Checa did a fantastic job. Great to see another Yamaha rider on the podium. Thanks Vale for making this the most exciting championship for years.

Well said.
Now it's up to Biaggi to try and put Sete's leadership in Honda's favours. Checa likes this track, and it dopesn't surprise me to see him ahead of many top drivers. |

About other races, still two Honda wins.
Just hope current financial problems won't affect Aprilia's results. |

Rossi has to sort the bike out if he is to beat Sete this year, Sete had a fever and still won!
Fantastic by Checa too. This year is going to be so close... I'm sticking with Rossi but who can doubt Sete or Max could swing it this year? |

I think if Max was going to make his mark on the championship then last night was the night. He was in front of Rossi and moving forward, but, as usuall he suffered with Rossi behind him. Rossi has a huge mental edge over Max and this could come back to haunt him. I still think Rossi will win the title, but Sete is the man to beat and it is going to be great. Huge applause to Sete, great to see him in front. One of the most likeable riders on the grid.

Already we can see that the title race is going to be between Sete, Max and Vale. I do hope that it will be Vale, but Sete is riding brilliantly and certainly deserved his two wins to date. I don't think Max will be able to keep up this level for the whole season.
Give Yamaha time to do more development on the bike and I'm sure that Vale will begin to challenge again. For sure it will be the most exciting season! |

250cc - dominant performance from a 250cc rookie. How long before we see him in MotoGP?

Then why wasn't he ahead of Checa? No, he didn't just didn't have his greatest race and lost his best chance of beating both Biaggi and Checa when he nearly ran off the track.

Wrong, it was Pedrosa, Puniet, Elias.
Did you mean 250cc, didn't? |

De Puniet is very consistent (last year he showed it too), but he need to go on doing podiums if he is not going for the ultimate level of aggresion to get wins.
Pedrosa seems to be his main enemy, and Porto could be if the argentinian gets tired of doing stunts with his bike. One could argue Poggy is another potential multi-winner, but he is so back in points that I doubt he is in the title chase already. |

Katoh was "scaringly" good. Pedrosa is an obvious talent, let's see how he develops. While Daijiro was a bit shy, Pedrosa looks quiet but not exactly shy, he looks "focused", a bit like Raikkonen.
Eurosport commentator said Pedrosa reminds him of Lawson in his approach to racing. Maybe it is a good call. Dani doesn't overenjoy wins, always seems to be thinking about what he is doing. Lawson, Katoh, if he someday get close to those two he will be a cracking rider! |
