Driver of the race- Italian Grand Prix
Who are you voting for?
For me Lewis Hamilton for another crash-strewn, petulant drive. Last edited by Born Racer; 9 Sep 2012 at 13:25. |

Perez because despite similar results to Vettel last race he didn't hold up his finger and most importantly because he is not Lewis.

Kimi for giving room to superior cars, driving maturely and managing his tires. He should have placed much lower.

Perez.
Obviously Lewis didnt need to push after the first pit stop, but Perez drove over 25 sec off their gap and did all the overtakings, including overtaking the whole Scuderia in a private Ferrari which is not something I recall ever happened before, amazing drive. |

Perez. Honourable mentions to Lewis and Alonso, but what a drive from Perez: tyre management when he needed it and he extracted the best from his car when needed.

Perez, no question ...
Hamilton did nothing wrong, but what Perez showed was even more impressive. He finished more than 15 seconds clear of Alonso and only about 5 seconds off the winner, even after all the passing he had to do. |

Not sure why there isn't a grid-long queue for Perez's signature, he was born to race F1 cars in this era. McLaren, if they were to lose Hamilton, should seriously consider Checo IMO. It would be handy for the designers to have two drivers of similar styles.
Superb drive today, dare I say the word genius? Hamilton couldn't have done any better either, and Alonso and Raikkonen deserve mentions as well. So many champions' drives out there today. Savour it while you can - this is a true golden era and in a few decades time, the names of these drivers will send a chill down your spine. Alonso, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Button, Vettel, Schumacher, maybe even Perez. It's amazing to have so much talent on track. |

Easy one this week. Perez. Made a difficult strategy work with robust passes and great lap times. Has he just booked his seat at Ferrari with that?

Brilliant drive by Sergio today - It can't be too long until he wins his first race...but with which team?

I'm going for Perez, who, incidently did exactly the same as Vettel last weekend, yet Vettel wasn't deemed as driver of the race, wonder what how this current poll stands ?

For me, Alonso. He made many amazing overtaking moves throughout, whereas Perez at the end just had much newer rubber. IMHO, he made a big mistake in not allowing Alonso past towards the end with Luca watching from the Ferrari pits. If Fernando loses by a point or 2 at the end, Luca will drop Perez from Ferrari's squad forever. He should have shown what he can do, then drop back to 3rd to ensure a Ferrari drive. Peter Sauber also should have reminded him who not only funds him, but also allows cheap engines to allow Sauber to race.

I conclude from this poll that Perez must be English.
