Canadian Grand Prix Possibly Dumped Is this Possible?
I was just reading an article and thought I would post this. Maybe with the Canadian Tobacco ban set for this October this may be possible. Any thoughts.

I don't get this anti-tobacco stuff being a problem for racing. There are other places where the logos have to be removed. The GP itself doesn't seem to rely much on Tobacco sponsorship. It seems to be all Air Canada, the federal gov't, the casino.

No way.
Now the US GP has moved to June they'll have an Canadian/US fortnight & promote F1 even more. Besides, it's part of Bernie's world domination! |

Vic Rauter and Gerry Donaldson have just said on the Canadian pre-race show that the rumour is definitely FALSE and there will be a Canadian GP next year, on June 6.

Yeah. I can't see there being ANY truth in this whatsoever.

Replace "Grand Prix" with "Driver" and you might be onto something.

I'd be surprised - and saddened - to see Montreal canned. (Actually, I'd be perfectly happy to see two GPs in Canada, maybe one in Toronto or Vancouver.)

I guess it's a done deal as Normand Legault has received a letter if you believe this story below. What a shame.

Arrgghhh... another great GP gone from the list. I don't know whether to blame Bernie, the Federal Gov't or the Provincial Gov't. Someone help me focus my anger.

Canadaian GP
Accordinf to the Beeb ( and the F1 forum) the Canadian GP has been ditched.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/moto...ne/3133815.stm This is not fair as I would much rather see one of the German races ditched maybe France as well ( not a fan of Mangy Cours) so looks like any of us wanting to Marshal in Canadian might be disapointed |

It is a real shame looks like they have been sold down the river by Bernie so that F1 can race in China...........

Well after Austria was dropped due to the government bringing forward the no-fag advertising it's not that much of shock. Bit of a shame for Canada though it's a great track.

Ok, I don't blame Canada's tobacco laws...with regards to advertising they're not much different than the US, Britain and most of Europe...
so....why was Canada dropped? |

Please keep all children away from the following.
Does anybody have a copy of Soldier of Fortune I can borrow? I may need an assassin. Or maybe I can just contact some militant Quebecois separatists. Last edited by Fish_Flake; 7 Aug 2003 at 22:11. |
