About Continental Tire news non-coverage
I am puzzled why the Continental Tire race at Daytona will be broadcast two weeks after the fact. If this series so insignificant that Fox won't broadcast it the same weekend, why does Fox bother to broadcast it at all? It's not like many people are going to spend time in front of TV watching, by now, a well marinaded and pickled support race that's two weeks old?
Fox and IMSA should really do something about this series. If they can't have it broadcast on TV, why not put a video on Youtube or Fox Sports GO? |

That's the way it was always done on SPEED as well. And it used to get (in relative terms) good ratings despite of the delay.
During the later years it was broadcasted live on US-only speed2 web service in addition to that. Once it got canned and SPEED was killed, then the plan was to show full season on FOX Sports 2 but someone realized that 3000 viewers per race isn't the greatest way to go forward so they switched around to tape delay FS1. Anyhow you can now watch it live on IMSA stream with RLM comms (and without one hour cut off like on FOX broadcast) so it's better than it used to be. For what's it worth I guess. But they won't put it to youtube until TV broadcast has aired *because ratings*. World Challenge on NBCSN is actually worse in this aspect: tape delayed for X weeks and then sometimes couple of events slammed into one broadcast. Last edited by Deleted; 3 Feb 2015 at 23:19. |

In short, it's a matter of "it ain't broke, don't fix it." The Conti series doesn't attract sufficient attention to justify making room for it live(which is even harder with the FS2 switch with more live sports vying for broadcast space), but it garners more than sufficient attention to squeeze it in at a more convenient time. Don't mess with it unless it grows to a point where it's worth throwing something else aside to get it on live.
