Zetec water cooling
On a Westfield/Caterham installation of a Zetec, is the pipe that connects the water thermostat housing to the water pump (to allow faster warm up times) connected, or is the outlet on the housing blocked off, and a straight through hose used to connect the bottom of the rad to the water pump inlet?
Trying to sort out my cooling, and I wanted to know how other people approach this problem? I'm not happy with my solution, and I want to know if theres a better way. TIA Graham |

speak to Raceline.
They go quite a lot of parts for the water system on Zetecs which are a huge improvement... A mate is a mechanic on a Ginetta and they had a lot of trouble with gromits blowing out until they fitted the raceline system. |

With the Raceline rail there appears to be no bypass other than presumably a small hole in the thermostat. This must mean when the engine is cold the pump is churning away at (almost) a dead end. This didn't seem a good idea to me so I've kept my untidy but effective setup with the original t'stat housing and bypass going to the Mondeo bottom hose.

Thats what I've done Geoff. I'd like to fit a neater solution to the header tank I've opted for, also a swirl pot may be advantageous. I'd also like to fit an electric pump for next year, and am currently planning an overhaul of the cooling system.
She never overheats, its just the solution I came up with with the VW header tank could certainly be improved upon. Last edited by graham blackwell; 29 Jun 2004 at 11:18. |
