Slicks?!?!?
Well after a rather eventful Belgian GP I have a question in my mind. As I understand it Bridgestone and Michelin were in a dispute regarding the fact that the grooved part of the tyre could wear out turning the tyre into a slick tyre and therefore gain a considerable advantage. In today's race Fisi came into the pits for the first time and only changed rear tires in spite that the front ones seemed very worn (in fact it appeared as if the grooved part had vanished) and he eventually ended up making the whole race with those tires as there was no front wheel change either in the second stop. Could this be a case of grooved tires turning into slicks and therefore gaining and unfair advantage?

Sometimes using tyres 'till they turn to slicks helps, but not often-or everyone would be doing it!In this case Fisi said he had a problem with graining of new tyres-he means they go off for a few laps before coming good again. He just didn't think it worth it to go through this phase. One would think slicks to allways be quicker but this hasn't been the case so far.Obviously by the time they wear enough they've lost most of the new tyre 'stickyness'.It's just as well too, because the FIA has no effective way of controlling the situation if someone DID want to protest against someone else for bald tyres....
